Hi again everyone. Didn't call into work...wish I had though, argh!

((Nagi)) Be strong (F)

Olivia, enjoy your time alone to enjoy Egypt the way you would like to enjoy it.

HLM, enjoy your baby class. I liked the birthing class when I went years ago, but now that I look back, it was kind of silly since I didn't use any of the technics they taught us. Anything to do with your pregnancy is still fun though.

Everyone else, have a great rest of the day. I am pooped and it's only 8:44am. It's gonna be a LONG day.

Melynda...have a great time!!! Have a safe journey. Do send us some pix.

HoneyandSweetie..how was the wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!

Annie, so BIL is the first to come. That is exciting, how long is he staying?

I know all about the dreadful closet, I have putting off cleaning out and organizing mine.

Olivia, I guess we would be graced with your presence a little more often these days so you don't get too lonely.

The 3 day weekend was relaxing. Just got some things done around the old and new place.

Officially out of the old apt. Going to miss it :(

We did go to see fireworks on Friday. Just wouldn't be the fourth without them.

The actually 4th was a bummer. I was alone all day and night.

Yesterday I did some killer cookin on the grill. That is one thing I hate about living in an apt complex is no property for nothing. No sitting outside, no garden and no grillin :(

I do feel refreshed though. Got ample sleep, in fact, Friday we never did go on our day trip to the shore, I was a lazy butt and didn't want to get up early enough to beat traffic.

Looking out the window smelling the salty air wondering if he's on the bus yet and if the coast is clear. Now for some courage to venture out alone knowing he's not in the same city. I know of one beach right now I can go to. Maybe I'll search the virtual beaches first.

Are you sure he doesn't have people around to keep tabs on you?

I remember being in a foreign land for 4 months and not having anyone at all around to take me places and show me what to do. I got so sick of sitting alone not being able to see the place I was in and I finally starting venturing out little by little. First just around the block, then down the street, then 15 mins away to the cafe...finally I started meeting people and planning my own excursions. I am just too outgoing and independent to sit around and do nothing especially when there is too much exploring to do! :star:

Good luck on the free time Olivia!

Have fun tonight HLM!!

Olivia -- I hope you're having fun! Remember, tan lines are evidence :D I have had that conversation with my husband before, too. The "Are you wearing that OUT?" conversation. The only difference is that I am Muslim, so I do have clothing restrictions that I am bound by. But even so, there are clothes that I wear here in the US that I feel cover me properly, but that I couldn't wear to walk around in his neighborhood, where all the women wear overhead abayas or niqab.

I also really related to what you said about feeling like you were missing out on something that you used to enjoy -- being out, swimming, etc. I have been struggling a lot with that this summer. A LOT. I don't know what to do about it.

Happy Monday! Another beautiful not-so-hot day here in Michigan! I am trying to squeeze every last piece of enjoyment out of these days as I know it will be hot and humid really soon!!

Amysaid (sorry, don't know your name)- I am with you as well. I converted to Islam 12 years ago and I find that I miss the things I use to do- I think the one biggie for me is swimming. I used to give myself permission to swim at my grandma's house on the lake as that was pretty private, but she just sold that house last week.. :crying: I know there are those new "Islamic swimwear" sites, but I just do not think I could pull that off. I would rather sit on the beach with my clothes! So I feel your pain....and trying to think of ways to get back in the water...

Olivia- I feel your dilemma as well- being in a Muslim country; married to a Muslim man- but not being Muslim yourself. You have to constantly juggle that line-while staying true to yourself. That must be hard.

Well, I am off with the kids tomorrow to go tent camping- right on a lake! (ha!) Plan to do some hiking and kayaking! The campground has internet access so I will be able to get on- mostly to be able to speak with Ghassan at night...but I will check in here too.

Have a great week!

:P

Baj

ah. the longing....

Thank you everyone who offered kind words and condolences. I appreciate it very much.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Waleed made it to Cairo. I tried to sleep but I'm all itchy. Not sure if it's the sea salt humidity. I took another shower. It's been quiet tonight. I can hear the morning call for prayer now. Is says something like praying to Allah is better than to sleep. I wonder if tomorrow would be a good day for the beach?
