Hi guys, I will be moving to Wisconsin towards the end of August, our wedding being planned for mid-November. Yes, I know we are cutting it close. Its the only time his work can allow it. We are taking 10 days and driving from Wisconsin to Las Vegas. So my questions are, what should we see along the way...places to stay etc? I wanted to do the Grand Canyon Skywalk, but at about $80 a person I've axed that planned. We can still do the Grand Canyon, just minus that. He wants to go to Hoover Dam. We love to hear about places that you've stayed at in Vegas as well. Its a little overwhelming looking at all the places to stay there. Thanks for all your help.

The Grand Canyon is a MUST to see! I went there for the first time last year and the sight blew my mind! Just the sheer size and beauty of the place. We didn't do the skywalk either because of Bren's fear of heights - but you won't be missing too much by not doing it. It was about $20 to drive into the park. Pick up some provisions before you come in though like a packed lunch as food can be a bit pricey. There are a few picnic benches, some of which are in the shade too. It's not too hot either as it's so high up - but pack some sunblock in case.

A good detour would be to visit Sedona. It's a beautiful little town about 40 miles south of the Grand Canyon. Lots of trees and little tourist shops and some really good restaurants. We are actually planning to have our wedding in Sedona as we fell in love with the place.

Another good place to visit on your way would be Lake Havesu where the original London bridge was rebuilt. I haven't been there yet but plan to visit when I come over permanently.

I hope that gives you some ideas for your roadtrip. Good luck with your move over to the states and I hope you enjoy your trip to Vegas.

Sedona and Flagstaff in AZ are great, if you want to detour south. Sedona might be further than you are interested in going.

Hover Dam is really neat too, though its not as nice now because since 9/11 they no longer do tours inside the dam. Still it is an amazing structure.

Lake Havesu can be missed, in my opinion...not worth it. Its more of a spring break town. Nothing to see but a lake in the desert.

All the national parks in southern Utah are beautiful - Zion is a personal favorite and my recommendation. Bryce Canyon is nice as well. Arches is good, but maybe further away. Canyonlands is a little huge and remote.

Above is just my two cents :)

I agree with this suggestion, especially if you plan to go to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (a bit less crowded than the South Rim, in my experience). You can take a little detour to the Valley of Fire just off I-15 along the way, should you choose to do that.

Personally, even though the Grand Canyon is awesome, I prefer Bryce and Zion. There is also Cedar Breaks National Monument in Utah near both parks that is also worth a visit.

Sedona is beautiful!! I googled it and looked at there official tourist site. I've spent two hours looking around. Then I called Petie and told him to mark it down for a definate two to three day stopover. I would rather stay longer there then to go to Vegas. I'm not a gambler...I'd like to see the lights of Vegas but you know...one nite and I'd be happy. THANKS for the suggestions.

Another good place to visit on your way would be Lake Havesu where the original London bridge was rebuilt. I haven't been there yet but plan to visit when I come over permanently.

Thanks everyone for your input. We really appreciate it. Take care all!
