K1 wait-time at Ciudad Juarez

I was wondering why my fiance hadn't yet received Packet 3. They received the file from NVC on May 16. They told me that they are currently having waits of 2-3 months to send out packet 3 for K1 visas.

She told me to expect it in July or August. She didn't know any reason why it is suddenly taking 3 months instead of 3 weeks to send out the packet.

Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Thanks!

Could it have something to do with the IMBRA petition recalls??? When we went through Juarez the packet came pretty quickly, although it never did make it to my fiancee in Mexico! However, you should check out the other Juarez threads...you do NOT need the packet 3 to proceed, because you do not need an appointment in Juarez for a K1 visa. Many others have simply traveled there and brought the necessary paperwork. check out the other Juarez threads, including this one:

But, I do think you have to wait for Packet 3 to be sent out before you can go to the interview, you have to be "notified" that it's okay to show up. I think what they are doing is holding on "certifying" my fiance's paperwork (so they said).

Do I have this wrong? If he could just show up, he'll go tomorrow. I don't know why there's a wait. I can't imagine it's IMBRA-related, as they should still be processing all pre-IMBRA applications.

Thanks for the thread.

Well, before the IMBRA mess you could show up as soon as they had the paperwork (which I confirmed by emailing the Consulate). I am hardly an expert on life after IMBRA, so I don't want to give you bad information and tell him to show up. At least before this recent hiccup you did not need to wait for them to send Packet 3. If it is not a problem for him to travel there and show up, it might be worth a shot. Again, check the thread that I linked to for more info on what to do if you show up without packet 3.
