My wife is a permanent resident and we submitted the N-400 application. Within 2 weeks she received a fingerprint notification. My question is how long will the appointment take? I am hoping within 2 hours or less.

Next question is after fingerprint appointment how long will it be before she will get the interview for the US Citizenship?

Biometrics itself takes about 30 mins or less(depending on how clear prints they capture), however wait can be long. For me, it was in and out within 30 mins.

For the interview it varies. You just have to wait until you get the interview letter.

it looks like average of 2-4 months... but thers is always exception..

Thanks for the information. How soon after the interview can you apply for the US Passport?

After you've successfully passed the Interview, you will be given an Oath date for the Oath Ceremony. Depending on your local office, that could be as soon as the same day of the interview, or a month or so later. Once the Ceremony is complete, you are a naturalized citizen and can apply for a passport same day or any other convenient time.

Edited to add: we have a thread for all the people who filed in June to compare timelines, if you would like to join. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...iew=getlastpost

Guys, I was wondering if they also take your picture when biometrics are done? They definitely did that during all the green card biometrics, I am curious if it is different for naturalization.

Naturalization:

June 6, 2009 - mailed N-400

June 8, 2009 - delivered to the Lockbox at 2:47 PM

June 11, 2009 - check cashed

June 15, 2009 - received NOA1 (June 10th - NOA1 date)

June 22, 2009 - received biometrics letter

July 10, 2009 - Biometrics

July 27, 2009 - Interview Letter received

September 16, 2009 - Interview @ 1:40 PM (Approved!)

September 26, 2009 - Oath Letter received

October 14, 2009 - Oath Ceremony @ 11:00 AM

I am a U.S. Citizen!

October 23, 2009 - applied for US passport

October 29, 2009 - US Passport received

November 6, 2009 - updated SSN

No, I don't think so - the photos we sent in our apps are what they use, not ones taken at biometrics like the previous stages. Don't really understand why that is...
