Peoria usually goes all out for the 4th. This year was a little scaled back compared to last year but still very good. It was cold and rainy this year but it was still a lot of fun on the riverfront. I filmed the entire display for your enjoyment. Anyone else have some good displays?

Our local HOA generally does a fireworks display over the lake. I didn't see any listed in the events catalogue this year but at dark Joe and I went for a walk to a small park on a nearby 'hill' and yes, the community was having fireworks. We had a nice vantage point to watch from there although they were a little bit distant. What was really fun, though, is behind us in the opposite direction, the city of McDonough about 10 miles away was setting off their fireworks and we could see them too! We kept turning from back to front to watch. Both put on pretty good displays. It was fun.

We went to riverside last night and it was a fantastic display, they do it from a barge. We got to sit right infront of the barge, so that was cool. Joe said last year's was even better, but I did enjoy yesterday :)

We have our own fireworks at my uncle's house over his lake. It was good this year but not as good as normal because there were delays in between lighting the fireworks since they didn't have enough people down there to light them. They normally have a lot more people, but this year there were only three people doing it. I filmed some. The little kids were screaming "grand finale!!!!!!" every few minutes. Even on this video which I made at the very beginning they were screaming it

Washinton DC was incredible! They shoot them off right between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. They put a great all day 4th of July celebration in DC. I was very impressed with every aspect of the entire day's celebration :thumbs:

Extra special for the first year celebrating the 4th with my very happy American citizen wife. On the 3rd, went to the Milwaukee lake front with the Summerfest to enjoy a spectacular fireworks display. Not only on the lake, but on top of the USBank building as well. On the 4th, a huge 4th parade in New Berlin with yet another spectacular show. I did get her a US Flag for her oath ceremony, beautifully made, made in the USA, 5 by 8 foot, stripes are sewn together instead of printed, stars are emboidied against the blue, with a certificate stating it was flown over the US Capitol building in honor of her day. Thing was, we weren't home to display it.

Thanti had just arrived in the USA on Friday, so we were planning to take things easy this weekend, let her settle in, jet lag and all, and not make any definitive plans.

As it was, we were invited to my cousin's birthday on the 4th. He lives a short walk from the Lakeshore about equidistant between downtown Chicago (south) and Evanston (north). The big fireworks display in Chicago are at Navy Pier on July 3rd, and they leave each municipality and suburb to do their own displays on the 4th. However after the birthday party we walked over to the lake and were able to see both Evanston and Chicago displays to either side of us. It was quite a lot of fun, and a great welcome to America for Thanti. Today (Sunday) we went shopping at Home Depot, bought a bunch of gardening supplies and a swing, spent the afternoon in our backyard and had a romantic dinner on the patio, including rocking on our new swing, and alll was well with the world      ..........

....except the skeeters :ranting:
