Merry Christmas all!

Tinkerbell - I know about the Aussie store, I'll actually be in the Alamo City and live nearby that shop, it may be frequented, I got a bag full of packets of Tim Tams for Christmas yesterday, alas my fiancee had her gall bladder out earlier in the year so she's not supposed to eat fatty things, she may be happy to suffer the consequences for a Tim Tam though!

Miss Natalie - Good luck on your flight and POE tomorrow! I'll be following you soon enough :)

Thanks Astrid! I'm here in New Orleans now with my sweetie  The flight was as expected, long and draining, but V Australia was really good. I recommend them for sure.

POE was quick and painless and there was no line at all! The immigration officer looked through my documents, asked me a few questions like "how did you meet", "when are you getting married" and "what work do you do in Australia", then took my prints and eye scan, stamped the passport and sent me on my merry way. As a bonus my bags were almost first off the carosel and I walked straight through customs! All up about 15 minutes for the whole process. After a long flight I was stoked!!!

The flights to New orleans are another story but even numerous delays didn't get me down! I am now in our apartment with my baby and that's all that matters :) Now, for the wedding preparations....

Hope you all had good Christmases :D

That's good you made it there safely Miss Natalie.

I was wondering what V Australia was like as I haven't travelled with them before. By the looks of their website the looked pretty decent to me. I just booked a one way ticket with them to LAX for $690. Today I'm going to book the rest of my journey to DC which I've seen for US$119. All up it will cost about AU$825.....I can't believe how cheap we could get a one way ticket. Qantas was more than $2000. I have a $650 credit with Qantas which I might end up having to forfeit unless I decide to come back some time next year.

My folks are flying V Australia to come to the wedding...they got direct flights for a fairly good price. $690 one way sounds amazing, usually a one way fare is more than a return!

Miss Natalie - Glad you got there safe! We should keep in touch, since we are for sure walking down the aisle the same day :)

Yeah I thought it was an amazing deal too and I go direct to LAX from Brisbane so no stopping over in Sydney. I have about a 3 hour layover in LA before going to DC. I wanted leave enough time to get through immigration and all that. We had been looking at the prices of fares last week and they were more expensive for the same departure date. I was hoping they would have a sale after Christmas and we were very lucky they did. I have a few weeks before I go so I can organise everything I need to before I leave and pack up my stuff. The countdown is on....so exciting! :D

That is a good deal on flights, Mine is about $1800 to Denver but I have bikes and all sorts so the excess luggage was the reason for extra costs for me.

AOS - VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

Hello all my lovely people :)

As you all know I'm supposed to file for my AOS soon (well technically it was supposed to be before Dec 11th but USCIS said waiting a little bit is fine) so I've been making sure I have everything set and ready to go.

The forms for AOS are these (if you're a K1 like me that is :D):

I-485 - Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

I-693 - Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD (if you vaccinations weren't completed at the time and you instead needed further shots after the medical)

I-765 - Application for Employment Authorisation: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

I-131 - Application for Travel Document (AP): http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...000b92ca60aRCRD

G-325A - Biographic Information: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

I-864 - Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

... there might be more but this is all I have at the moment :D

The latest thing I've been reading up on is the vaccination requirements. Apparently it USED to be that the vaccination supplement was okay, but now it appears you will HAVE to go to a civil surgeon to get it transcribed into a different form if you've had to have shots AFTER the medical. The prices from place to place vary so lots of you might find this thread helpful as it's the one I've been reading: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry3591420

Also, someone posted these links on that thread which discuss the update that HPV AND ZOSTER ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED:

- Memo dated Dec 15 2009: http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/Laws/Memoranda/...anges121509.pdf

- Vaccination tech instructions dated Dec 14 2009: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/pdf/civil_sur...nstructions.pdf

Hope this info is helpful :)

Merry christmas to everyone too, and all the best for a New Year. I wasn't online on Christmas 'cause Comcast suck.
