Come on NOA2, we are waiting for you :)

I don't know what is going on in VSC - I got my NOA2 in 66 days and thought that was fast, but an AUGUST 28 filer got theirs in about 34 days!! Now is still within their "normal" window, so I don't know if you can even complain or start calling yet. My attorney explained that they are SUPPOSED to handle requests in the order in which they are received, but often they don't. An application on someone's desk gets put aside while the agent handles some other paperwork and might just get "lost" on their desk for a while. But good luck!!

5/20/08 Met through a mutual friend in Medellin

7/02/08 - 10/27/08 Visited 5 times

12/08/08 6th Visit Medellin (gave "Promise" ring to be exclusive)

1/22/09 - 6/21/09 4 more visits. 6/22/09 GOT ENGAGED!

7/25/09 11th Visit Met in Panama

9/19/09 12th Visit Met in Medellin for Dial Del Amor y Amistad

6/23-7/21 Gathered paperwork and applied for I-129F 7/24/09 USCIS acknowledges Receipt of I-129F application NOA1

9/28/09 NOA2 received!!! Only 66 days! 10/02/09 NSC Received and completed Application and sent to Bogota

10/02/09 Embassy received application (my lawyer is two weeks behind informing me - time line information learned on 10/15/09)

10/09/09 Embassy sent out Package 3 10/15/09 Package 3 not received - downloaded forms from website.

10/16/09 Submitted DS-2100 and Ds-230 to apply for interview date. 10/23/09 Received Interview date (had to call DOS)

12/09/09 Interview - VISA GRANTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1/07/10 Arrived in Miami, cleared Immigration with no problems. Arrived in Charlotte to a freaking cold spell 55 degrees colder than Dora has ever experienced.

Fortunately I have a driving licence and as far as I know I can use it up to a year from the date of my arrival to US. Which is not bad at all considering that in order to get an american driving licence you need SSN and GC first. And getting those it may take a while.

I hate not being able to move around. I need my freedom and independence (no, I am not an american woman!), at least in terms of being able to go shopping without waiting for him to come home. :P

No NOA2 today either. Well, tomorrow is another day, right?

Hurry up VSC! 85 days from NOA1.

EXACTLY correct (at least for NC laws) - that is why I am having Dora learn now and get a license in Colombia - cost USD$170 and she takes lessons 2 1/2 hours a day for 4 days and gets her license! But she is learning on a manual drive in the streets with regular traffic - yikes!! Not even 5 minutes driving around a parking lot to get the feel of it. I'll give her more training once she arrives here, but it will be better for BOTH of us as far as freedom.

For me it was some 400 USD and I took lessons for like two weeks. Manual drive in regular traffic as well. Imagine doing that in a city of almost 4 million people (2 million officially and another 2 visitors and comuters) and probably the worst traffic in Europe. To be honest with you that's not bad at all. You really learn to drive. I remember the hardest thing to learn was how to hold a car up hill without having the car slide back. On a couple of occasions I missed it and stopped right in the bumper of the car behind me!

As compared to that, driving in US is a piece of cake!

Imagine Paris... Manual gear too. 20 millions people in a old city with narrow streets.

Firstly, you have to take a written test (which is actually hard), that's 300 to 500€ (good chance you fail the first time, and each you pass it there's a new fee to pay yay).

Then you have to take at least 20h of driving lessons. You can only take those at a certified Driving School (robbers), that's 1500€ minimum. Same thing, if you fail the test (average people need to take it 2 times) you have to pay more lesson hours and a another test fee.

Aaaaand there's a 3 months waiting list for the driving test because there's not enough agents....

The french driving license is probably the most expensive one in the world.

Last significant immigration event:

ROC: Approved : 04/17/2013

USCIS works in mysterious ways...
