Hi,

I entered here with K1 in February, after the wedding we applied for AOS, Work Permit and Advanced Parole for me to be able to travel. Now I'm waiting for AOS interview in August, but I already received forms I-512L (Advanced Parole) so I can travel with. I would be very thankful if someone could clarify me one question - how long can I travel? for what period of time it will be ok to come back with Parole with no problems...

can it be more than one month?

And one more thing - after I got married, I took my husband's last name...but I have my passport with my maiden name - is it going to be a problem? On Advanced Parole there is my new name... Will it be ok if I have my old last name in my passport and Marriage certificate?

or what else should I have with me on the border?

I would be very very thankful for help.

Yes, you can travel for more than a month with your AP - but you will want to be in the US before your interview. Generally, you don't want to be out of the US for more than 6 months without requesting special permission even when you get your green card. If you have more than 180 out of status days in the US then you shouldn't use the AP at all as you would not be allowed back in (if you applied for your AOS before your I-94 expired then you have no out of status days.).

You will need to book your flight tickets in the same name as is in your passport. Carry a copy of your marriage certificate with you to show the connection to your new name and you shouldn't have a problem.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Ok, thank you. I was planning to travel after my interview (after August 5th) and just wanted to go for more than a month.

Ok, I'll do so, thank you very much, Kathryn41!

Just to confirm, the Advanced Parole application form is now form "I-131 - Application for Travel" right?
