You don't need albums-sweet mother.

If you get to the interview then you've already proved your relationship.

I'd take maybe 10 photos max. You don't need a bag full and they certainly won't let you in with it.

if you have any question just call and ask them.

Good Luck to you-you'll be fine!

What about photo albums? Or should I just plan to stick my photos in my purse?

Only bring what they tell you to bring, we were not asked for any proof other than the required forms, fee, medical, etc.

I did see people with non-purse bags, I guess it's up to security, but then again a woman also had to leave her sons backpack with toys in it outside in a park as she couldn't get it in.

Would you mind filling out your timeline so the rest of us can get an idea of the Montreal processing times?

Thanks!!

Sure! Our timeline is (was) as follows....

-my fiance received the Checklist and other Forms from the Montreal Consulate on the 2nd week of December.

-She Express Mailed them BACK to Montreal b4 Christmas.

-US Consulate OFFICIALLY received our Checklist & Forms Dec. 28th and assigned a Case Number.

-I was told by the Consulate Official (I called weekly to check on progress, AND emailed and kindly requested a QUICK Interview date) that they were scheduling Interviews for early March (that was told to me on January 5th).

-by January 26th, when I called to check on things, I was told - WE HAD A CANCELLATION, and your Interview is FEB 9th!!!

I had 2 weeks to prepare! hehe

Anyway bro,...I hope that helps. After my research, I would expect this:

After US Consulate receives your Checklist and assigns a Casenumber, plan on 3 weeks to Schedule the Interview, another week (at most) to RECEIVE your Letter of Appointment, and another 3 weeks to the expected Interview date. I figured about 7 weeks from Casenumber to Interview Date.

Take care and goodluck!!!

Life is good!!!

Ciao!

Thing is we're going for CR-1 and I've heard of people being asked to show photos of their wedding, photos together, etc.

Are there vending machines there? I get nauseous if I don't eat frequent small amounts of food, especially when nervous. If there are no vending machines I'm thinking I'll get a doctor's note saying I need to eat small amounts of food frequently and see if the embassy will let me bring in a baggie of carrot sticks or crackers or the like. I don't want to throw up on the interviewer! Somehow I doubt that would help our process. :P

I bought one of those accordian folders. had like 12 pockets in it! Brought a few pics, letters, Insurance that had both our names on it, lease that had both our names on it, airplane tickets. Didnt get to carried away. Security had no beef with it, and everything was neatly organized. There were was a coke machine, not sure if there was amachine that had chips or choco bars!! They never did ask to see any of my evidence!! But better to have a bit just to be safe. Better to have quality stuff than quantity!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I had my things filed in a binder (documents like birth certificate, etc etc), and then proof of relationship organized in manila envelopes (I had it organized by visits, then one envelope for proof of engagement). All of this I carried in an open-ended cloth bag. The officers seemed to not have a problem with it, they peekd through it and then sent it through the scanner, not a problem. They definitely had problems with backpacks or any large bags that closed. They are pretty specific in the letters that they send you about what is acceptable to bring and what is not.
