You can visit, however you should bring strong ties to your home country to show the CBP that you have a set return date and do not intend on violating any immigration laws by entering as a tourist with intentions to immigrate.

Good luck

Seeing as it is taking about 5-6 months for processing of K! visa. Can one keep flying in and out of the US in the meantime? (Money being no object). Or should one stay put in Australia until paperwork is approved.

Thanks Canadian Wife - it least it would make the waiting less excruciating. I actually didn't stumble on similar topics until after I posted. Sorry to be a pain but what is CBP?

"CBP" stands for Customs and Border Protection, they are an agency of the State Department that also falls under the umbrella of the Department of Homeland Security.

http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/home.xml

They are the ones that decide weather or not you can enter the US, all the Visa does is allow you to ask their permission, everyone should take some time to

familiarize themselves with CBP, they have entirely too much power in this process to remain an unknown.

Happily married, waiting to file to remove conditions on permanent residence in next 2 years.

G'day, Aussie. You will be fine visiting the US. Just bring the immigrations a slab of VB's and you will be in without any problem.

Cheers

Matt

I think people have posted good answers but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents as I had psyched myself that I wouldn't be allowed.

But I was, and hence, this happy post. I visited my man just this May, while our K1 was in process. I had taken a ton of documents to prove that I still had a job, an apartment etc.

You really need to show off confidence at the immigration counter, and that makes it easier. Remember, the first question normally, the purpose of visit - - just say vacation and stop. how many days are you going to stay - - I said 2 weeks and again stop. That's it, and I was let in.

However, if I had mentioned a fiance and stuff, it would have been long, but I kept it brief and so did they! So, good luck :) hope it helps.
