Just needed to write I'm feeling kinda anxious, Janna is coming to visit me on Aug 4th. I'm worried sick that she might have a problem at the PoE. Last time she visited she had absolutely no problem getting through all they asked to see was her return ticket and if she was staying at a hotel or at a private residence then she was let right through, but this was before we we sent our I-129F petition. I worried because I thought she may be loosing her job but it turns out that she is not so I guess that's a little bit better. We had originally planned for her to spend about 3 months here while we wait. She is an independent contract editor for a magazine in Russia and can work from her laptop if she needed. We started talking about this yesterday and felt maybe it would be better is she just buys a ticket for 3 weeks instead of 3 months as we both thought it may not raise as many flags with a shorter visit. She has purchased an adjustable plane ticket and we are hoping that they will give her maybe 3 months on her I-94. (Last time she came for 2 1/2 weeks and they granted her 6 months to stay on her visa.) and she can adjust her plane ticket a little bit longer if she is granted the time. She will have a lot of proof of ties back to Russia and I will send her a copy of our NoA1. I just worry, cus I will be taking a train from Charleston to NYC to meet her at the airport and it will be a very lonely trip back home if she gets denied. I just needed to vent a little..... thanks for taking the time to read.

Have her tell the story about "having to go back to Russia in 90 days to finish some work. She'll stay in the U.S. for as long as possible and work from her computer, but she may have to go back sooner. She'll try to stay 90 days but after that, she HAS TO get back to work."

If she stresses the need to go back, there should be no problem with a 90 day stamp.

As always good advice slim. I concur.

On a side note

Chis_Janna have to tell you that my sister lived in columbia SC for about 5 years before she had to move back to michigan. My wife spent 10 days visiting her and they spent 2 days in charleston. Now my wife wants to live there one day or at least own a vacation spot. It is a beautiful city and I enjoyed my time there as well. I will be curious to see what a southern russian accent sounds like (ya'llivich?)

Hahaha

Too funny! I'm actually from NY and have just recently relocated a few months ago. It's a beautiful city, although living might be a better option, you are a 5 min drive into downtown Charleston and you are right by the Isle of Palms beach too. It's pretty inexpensive here as well. Only problem is the natives don't take kindly to "Carpetbaggers" from the north....or anywhere for that matter haha, this is after all, where the first shots of the civil war were fired and for some they are still sore about this. Don't be surprised to see "Sons/Daughters of the confederacy" road signs next to the Elks club or Rotary club signs on local highways here either. All and all it's a nice place just different. Oh yeah, and there is always the 95-110 degree days with 100% humidity to consider as well. If you have any questions about relocating or just general info on life here feel free to msg me.

living in Mount Pleasant might be a better option sorry, sometimes I think faster then I type.

Actually the thing that makes me laugh more than anything else is talking to folks in SC about the civil war (or as they call it the war of northern aggression).

Funny story for you about 3 years ago my sister was living there and it snowed, and like anyone from michigan would do she woke up and drove to work. Her boss was so impressed because she was the only one in her office to get to work through all of this snow. My sister explained to him that in michigan if there is less than 2 inches of snow on the ground they dont even plow the streets. She spent the next 2 hours driving around columbia picking up her coworkers and driving them to the office.

I grew up in NY state and went to USC in Columbia. Every year I was there we had a snow or ice storm, which was nothing I wasn't used to. I quickly learned to stay off the roads, not because I had any trouble driving, but because the people there were crazy and dangerous driving in those conditions. How many times did I see someone driving in those conditions at like 50 mph and try to stop at the stop sign the same way they would if the road was clear and dry? There were wrecks at most intersections. I didn't want to get hit so I stayed off the roads. In two days life would be back to normal.
