Hello to all...

I am Gary and I live in Alabama. My fiance is in Davao City, Philippines. We just received our approval letter from the USCIS and the letter from the NVC. I have a few questions and I hope someone can give us some answers.

1) There is conflicting information regarding setting the date for the interview. The Manila site says to call a specific number to set an interview time. The NVC says to wait for Manila to assign an interview date then after the interview date they will send a packet of confirmation.

2) We have so much proof of relationship but what kind of proof are they looking for regarding intent to marry. Are they not the same? We do not have wedding plans set because we have no idea when visa will be granted.

3) Two of her children will be accompanying her to me. They must be involved in the interview. What kind of questions will they ask the children and will they be accompanied by mom in the interview? They are nervous about the interview.

Thanks so much for any responses.

I suggest that you call the number (their call center), that's what I did. they will gladly assist you and give the available dates for interview.

2) We have so much proof of relationship but what kind of proof are they looking for regarding intent to marry. Are they not the same? We do not have wedding plans set because we have no idea when visa will be granted.

I included mine and my fiance's letter of intent to marry, in my "Evidence of engagement folder" ( I have about 6 folders :) consul said Im very organized :) hehe ). Our letter was short and straightforward, about 3 sentences. That's it. I believe that our engagement pictures, engagement ring receipt, etc. was more than enough as a proof, but we made a letter anyway.

3) Two of her children will be accompanying her to me. They must be involved in the interview. What kind of questions will they ask the children and will they be accompanied by mom in the interview? They are nervous about the interview.

1) There is conflicting information regarding setting the date for the interview. The Manila site says to call a specific number to set an interview time. The NVC says to wait for Manila to assign an interview date then after the interview date they will send a packet of confirmation.

Once USEM receives your case and they include it in their system they will then send your fiance a letter stating that she can call USEM for the interview date, but it'll take long for the USEM to send this letter. You don't need to wait for that letter if I were you. Call NVC and ask them if they send it already, after a week atleast from the date they send it, call USEM. Ask them if they receive your case, you should know your Manila Case Number because they will check the system using this number. If it's there already, you can set your interview date.

2) We have so much proof of relationship but what kind of proof are they looking for regarding intent to marry. Are they not the same? We do not have wedding plans set because we have no idea when visa will be granted.

Intent to Marry proof is just a letter, saying that you are able and willing to marry your fiance. There is a sample of this letter here in vj, check example forms.

3) Two of her children will be accompanying her to me. They must be involved in the interview. What kind of questions will they ask the children and will they be accompanied by mom in the interview? They are nervous about the interview.

I dont know about this but i'm sure someone here in vj who experienced this already will share later.

I received a letter from the NVC dated 8 June 09 stating they had received my APPROVED (yee haw!) 129F petition and that it will be forwarded to Manila in 3 days. I waited maybe 10 days (weekends and shipping time) and then called the 1-888-877-9888 number to Manila embassy. You need a debit/credit card and you will pay 18 US$ for 2 calls (I needed just 1). The call was crystal clear and I simply asked for a K-1 interview date for my soon to be asawa. The operator was quick and professional and gave me several dates open. The clerk will ask several questions about the K-1 recipient, Full name, B-day, address etc. You will need the case number (MNLxxxxxxxxxx) which is on the NVC letter. That is about it. Took 5-6 minutes.

The proof of relationship I believe is the same as you applied to the 129F, engagement ring receipt, some money transfers receipts and of course pics. Send her a copy of the package with your original receipts and you should be ok.

Good luck

Gary

if they are applying for K-2 Visa at the same time as their mom, then they will attend interview and will need to have a medical.

the questions asked children probably will be age specific and are usually simple questions. our daughter, ten years old at the time of the interview was asked one question, " how old are you?'

The kind of evidence they are looking for is for a bonafide, continuing relationship. Pictures of both of you together with her family and friends, in different settings, and clothing changes are what you want, along with letters, postcards, emails, chat logs, phone bills, etc. Not everything, just a good sampling. They will collect about 6 of each type, but having more with you can't hurt.

A big help to your fiancee during the interview will be a copy of everything you sent the USCIS already. That is where the CO will get most of the information for questioning her, and it helps if the fiancee knows what the CO knows.
