well we just got back from our Interview in Seattle.

It seemed to be going really well up until the end.Thats when we were told that she has to do additional review (security check she said) on our case and that we should get the Green Card in 2-3 weeks.

Mind you,we are NOT approved as of now.We got the white paper stating

" Your case has been continued for the reason of further review".

We are speechless.

Our case has not been touched since 8/31,never got an RFE.....she only asked a few simple questions.....

Anyone who knows what that may mean please tell me as I am in tears, lost and confused. And my Husband is in complete denial and doesnt understand that we are NOT approved............

NatashaB,

don't be discouraged, you will be approved as that's all they need to do a security check. You were not denied so that means you will be approved.

Stay calm

The Lord is my strength and my shield,

My heart trusted in Him and I am helped,

therefore my heart greatly rejoices,

and with my song I will praise Him.

Yes, the only thing they need to do is make sure you didn't do something illegal, so unless you stole a few million dollars or killed someone somewhere you have nothing to worry about. If anything you should be happy that the only thing keeping you from the green card is the security check.

My wife was on a J1 visa without 2-year home residency requirement. Applied for adjustment of status with EAD/AP. We just passed the interview so here's how it all went from start to finish:

MARRIED July 8 2009

Application mailed to Chicago lockbox July 17

Signed for July 19

Receipts about 1 week later, Application seems to be at NVC in Missouri

Biometrics August 12

AP mailed Sept 2

EAD mailed Sept 11

Interview date rec'd around Sept. 25 (not sure exactly what date)

Interview Oct 15, Green card 2-month stamp rec'd, AP and EAD confiscated, DS-2019 and I-94 confiscated

I-131 approved Oct 15

Green card production ordered Oct 20

She is flying home this Tuesday so they gave her passport a stamp as a temporary green card since the card won't arrive for another week or so after that.

It happened a lot faster than I expected, I was thinking the interview might be in January and green card would be as late as 1 year after applying. The interviewer was a nice woman that didn't make us uncomfortable or anything. Didn't mind when wife couldn't remember the city I was born in, or missing paperwork in our package (It was in there when I sent it...) since I had photocopies handy. It took maybe 10 minutes and another 10 minutes waiting for the stamp and we were done.

I did this all - the application, all forms and supporting evidence, package assembly, fee payment, etc. by myself with no lawyers or professional help. I even had a joint sponsor due to being a lowincome student and little supporting evidence beyond our joint bank account and some photos.

The only outside help beside google - I paid for the AOS kit located at www.usavisanow.com/marriagegreencardkit.html

It came with sample and blank fillable forms and instructions for filling them out. Most of it was easy but some things like "c0g" and knowing what to fill out and what to leave blank was worth the money alone.

Fantastic results and very fast I would say. Much easier than I expected, just a lot of bureaucracy and paperwork.

@mashamisha - let me know what you have decided - what train bus etc, and good luck to you! the journey i mean. i am sure the interview will go fine.

We'll take the subway to Atlantic/Pacific, from there by LIRR train to Hempstead, and from Hempstead there's a bus (N24) going to Stewart avenue. According to Google directions this should take about 2 hours to get there. We have interview at 2 pm, so we should be fine with time. 2 roundtrip LIRR train tickets are $27.

Thank you lostfairyuk and SHellyalex for your wishes! Good luck with your journey too!!!

Just wanted to update that we received an email from USCIS today that my daughter's AOS from her K-2 visa has been approved and card production has been ordered. Since my wife is already getting her 10 year card and we're married over 2 years now, my daughter will also get her 10 year card. Woohooo!!!! That saved us a few hundred dollars on filing an I-751 for her.

Anyways....good luck to those that may still be waiting for approval!
