filing I-131 late (for travel outside USA)

We already filed for AOS but did not include the I-131 for travel outside of the country. Traveling to another country was the farthest thing from my mind when I brought my wife here. I could not imagine us going ANYWHERE since I could see no need and because we didnt have the money for travel right now anyway.

Recently though my wife learned of a family emergency. A family member is very sick, and she needs to see him. There may not be a lot of time. What do we do now to file for the I-131 late, after already submitting our AOS packet? I saw online that the filing fee is $305 when filed seperately. We dont have that kind of money to spend now. We are still waiting on her temporary work permit, and my income alone doesnt allow for such costs.

Does anyone have any clear answers what to do? If we have to somehow pay that fee, then we have no choice. How do we file for the I-131 late like this now, and how long would it take to be approved?

Thanks for all your help.
