AP Waiting

When we went for our interview on June 2nd we were told that our case required additional processing (AP). I know it is useless to ask these questions, but why is it that they wait until after the interview to do these name checks etc. After all the case has been with them 1 + years. I understand and support the need for this procedure but people's lives are on hold. We were told our case is very good except for this last step. we were not given anything written to document our status and I am so afraid our case will be "lost". I call weekly and although everyone has been nice, we paid for this process, I am confused as to why we cant find out where we are in this AP process. I know these are questions everyone has. I am just expressing my frustrations as we wait and wait and wait.

We just went into AP this June 2009. We began the process a little over 1 year ago. Sorry for the misunderstanding
