Hi All

I recieved letter I-797C after sending my 129F application on may. the letter includes a Reciept Number, recieved date but no priority date, it also states in the later "this notice does not grant any immigration status or benefit. its not even evidence that this case is still pending" is that a bad sign? is there a way to get an automatic update on your status via email? just concern its been 2months now and I have not received anything since. your reply, feedback, input is greatly appreciated.

That is what is known as a Notice of Action (NOA) and specifically this is your NOA1, it is to say they have received your package. The reciept number is how you track your case online with USCIS and would be what you sign up with on their site to get email updates, however not all cases show up online, not all of them receive updates. Gary will tell you his wife has been in the US for 9 months and their file still says pending, mine didnt show up until the day they approved it, but it didnt say approved, just said pending, so dont get your hopes up too high to be able to track it reasonably. Its not uncommon to not hear anything for 2 months, if you look at the timelines, they are still processing March applicants, so if you just sent in May, you have a few months to wait. Most people are getting NOA2's around 105 days after NOA1.
