When we were apart, we webcammed and Skyped and I took my laptop to class and took advantage of the wireless internet installed in all of the classrooms to chat with him pretty much all day, every day. Didn't help my grades any, but eased the ache in my heart just a little.

We do this as well, Web cam on MSN and Yahoo. It absolutely awesome......and it keeps us connected, and saves $$$$$$ on caliing cards. Our webcams are on runnig all day and all night. It's not the same as being together.....but it will do for now :P

Well I last saw him about 2 1/2 hours ago as he was still fast asleep and I had to leave for work! :P During our long distance relationship (spanning 6 yrs) we were typically apart from 4-6 months at a time. We saw each other every Christmas season and every summer either in the US or England. It was always devestating at first to be apart but eventually you just get used to going through your every day without each other and look forward to when you're together again. It is hard, trust me - I know!, but just remember you'll be together one day. We made it and so will you!

I put him on the plane back to Germany on November 8th, 3 days after our first anniversary. We talk every day. There's usually a call in the AM and a call in the evening before I go to bed. We also play World of Warcraft nearly every day, when we are in game it's almost as good as being together because we are usually doing something together. I still miss having him near. A kiss over the phone is no where near as good as my lips on his, but it still makes me smile when he types /smooch at me online. :)

No, the mule has not come yet

I think I saw him on his way Lewis! Talk about a traffic jam on I-19

I suggested ICQ because it definately has a Russian Version. But in Russia, She is on Dial-up and unlike here in the states there isn't a monthly fee, just per minute! OUCH!

So no daily chats :crying::crying::crying:

Vonage is $0.12/minute (to Russia) and our calls last about an hour, I used phone cards at first but never found a good quality connection through them at a reasonable price!

Worse yet, she's traveling for the next few days for a friends wedding so no emails either :(:(

Wife and I met in the USA while she was here studying on a j-1 visa. Lived together for 8 months and made a tough decision for her to go back to Istanbul for 2 years to serve her residency requirement.

Been separated now for one year and 3 months.....with around 9 months to go.

We get through this by basically have no personal life when we are apart. We save every penny we both make and try to visit each other around every three months for anywhere from 3 weeks to two months.

We have to save everything we make because plane ticket prices are awful.....over $1,000 each trıp.

I also use Nobel for my calling plan, and phone calls cost around 8 cents a minute. We talk at least twice a day.

Even when I am in the USA, you`d be surprised what you can find on the internet.....and I`ve been able to find businesses that will deliver flowers, etc...to her in Istanbul.Just pay by credit card over the internet. It helps to remind her when I am not there with her, that I am thinking about her and how much she means to me.

We`ve been married now for 2 years , 3 months......and have yet to finish this awful immigration process and have a normal life like other couples in the USA.

as for us, it has been 1.5 months.... i dont know maybe it's just me but it doesnt matter how long you guys are apart, be it a day a week or a month, you still miss each other so badly. imho, the worst days after a "visit" is the first two weeks. it drives me absolutely nuts since i live with my fiancee whenever i go visit. its like you come back and then there's no one there. you're sad or bored, no one entertains you... the days you miss your s/o lessens in intensity as it is longer. I guess you kinda build your patience as time progresses.

lets see, what do we use, chat at work, webcam, PC to PC calling, text messaging (i currently own three phones, one is my normal day to day phone, one is with the local service provider back in the philippines and the third is my outgoing text phone.), emails, occassional phone calls...

may i suggest using SKYPE or Google talk. they're alot more clear when transmitting voice versus yahoo. sorry yahoo fans, their service sucks. but then again, it's free, who am i to complain.

imagine how this whole thing would be prior to internet? when people had to send snail mails? goodnes... =p

It's always nice to be surprised when the mail comes. So once a week, I send a postcard or letter ... something he's not expecting. The last was a Thank You card in which I wrote all the things he does that make me grateful. It's an inexpensive way to keep in touch, aside from phone and email strategies.
