When you get to Buffalo on the I-90, you'll pass the Galleria Mall and Hwy 33 which takes you to the airport. Keep going towards Erie. There will be a huge sign saying "To Canada" at Exit 53. Mind you, my daughter and her friend drove right by this sign so I guess it can be missed. Once you get on the 190 take Exit 9 then take the first right. This takes you past the duty free and onto the bridge. There are a ton of new lanes at the Canada border so just watch for the NEXUS lanes. I believe they're in the middle closest to the building. Going back into the States, the NEXUS lane is on the left. Once you're past the inspection lanes you'll go through the EZpass kiosks. Your transponder (I'm pretty sure you said you had one) will work there.

Ooops! Those directions I just gave were for Treble. Since you're coming from the other direction, Jill, you'll come off the I-90 to the 190 but you won't go by the Galleria Mall or Hwy 33. Going back, keep to your right after leaving the inspection booth and take the 190 South, then follow the sign to the I-90 West towards Erie at Exit 1.

Treble, you'll do the same. Except when you get to the I-90, go east towards Albany.

Wouldn't Jill and I be coming from the same way?

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

My husband bought me a GPS when I first arrived a few weeks ago. I used it to go back a week later and even though I have been driving the same way for 10 years "Samantha" (my GPS lady!) kept telling me the strangest route!

OK guys if you are coming from the US I will assume you are approaching Buffalo via the I-90, regardless of what route you take to get to that point. (I take a diagonal route north from NJ through Scranton, Binghamton, Corning and then get on the I-90 at Rochester.) You can also go north to Syracuse or right up to Albany and the across. Anyway whatever route you take you will come into Buffalo through the I-90. Follow the I-90 right through to the I-190. You will see an exit marked "TO CANADA", and it is about 5 minutes or so past the tolls. Do not take the 290 up to Niagara Falls. Following the I-90 to I-190 will take you directly to the Peace Bridge. Then you are right on the QEW.

I drove that all the time when I went up to see my sweetie. Here is the condensed version of directions.

You want to be on I-90 coming into Buffalo. For NJ that seems like the road you would be on.

Take I-190 to downtown Buffalo.

The peace bridge (Ft. Erie) is exit 9. (maybe 5 or 6 miles) It's very soon after you pass the arena downtown.

2 lanes exit right off of the interstate but stay in the left one. The trucks have to go in the right.

You will go through a stop light then try to bear to your right since that is where the Nexus lane is. (The trucks have their own entrance)

After you pass through you pay a toll for the QEW and your off.

The Mapquest directions are very accurate.

Oh, does Jill live near you? For some reason I thought she was coming from the Erie area of PA. Sorry about that. I've edited my last post since you wrote this so you may want to go back and see what I wrote. Though it was before I heard that Jill's coming from the same direction.

My husband bought me a GPS when I first arrived a few weeks ago. I used it to go back a week later and even though I have been driving the same way for 10 years "Samantha" (my GPS lady!) kept telling me the strangest route!

I all mine Aimee because she aims me in the right direction.

You will see an exit marked "TO CANADA", and it is about 5 minutes or so past the tolls.

They took the tolls down. They were illegal and people complained. lol

They're under construction in the duty free area.... it narrows down into one lane accessing the bridge. But don't.... whatever you do.... stay in the left lane coming off the 190. It's the one which takes you to the 290. Keep in the right-hand lane so you can turn right towards the Peace Bridge. The right-hand lane opens up into two lanes. That's where you'll want to stay in your lane. I think this is the area you must be referring to, Wiz.

I meant the tolls off the I-90. :) The ones where I always feel like I'm cheating because I have an EZPass in my Canadian plated car! I forgot about the ones they took down. You might not want to use my time estmates considering the speeding ticket I got on my last trip down.

 I am totally confused then. I know I slow down and go through an EZPass lane as I am entering Buffalo on the I-90 from the east.

I don't have the card yet. They said it takes about 3 weeks but you don't need your card at the kiosk machines because they are done with retinal scans. I just look into the camera and it knows who I am :)

Huh...they must've changed that. I got my card on the spot.

It's cool to use Nexus at the airport...I was flying out of Pearson one day & from the time it took me to walk into the building to sitting waiting at the boarding gate it was 9 mins(I did get lost for about a min thogh :P )
