Has he maybe been a permanent resident for 5 years? Did he marry an American by chance? I have no idea.. I've never heard of him to be honest :lol:

he is a good hitter, but 1 article stated he was 1 of the worst fielding left fielders in the majors. But he gets paid the big $$$$ because of his bat and was a good pick up for the red sox via trade with the pirates last yr.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Didn't you read that article I posted about a year back where Feist had it written in her contract with Apple that they could use her song as long as she got dual citizenship and a ####### load of cash?

If you have the money you can get dual pretty quickly.

We all go through this grueling process because we just don't have that kind of money.

No it was a part of her contract, she had it written in. She said it a few times in interviews.

I find it hilarious... unfair.. but still hilarious. I do think there was probably a lot of paper work and red tape for her to go through still but Steve Jobs probably handled it all for her.

I read up on this because I was curious too and it says her father was an American so she probably had dual before that. Emily Haines father is American too... omg maybe all of Broken Social Scenes members are dual citizens. :lol:

I bet he was on an EB1 green card for aliens of exceptional ability, he is one of about 1200 Major leage baseball players in the world after all. There are many other categories of green cards out there, Employment based, Diversity Lottery, or Refugee to name a few.
