I have a few questions that my fiances mom just asked me and please forgive me and be patient with me for my lack of knowledge:

On the I-797 Notice of Action is a date 6/30/09 to 10/30/09 - Does this mean when his visa gets approved lets say 9/24 just as an example, we only have until the 30th of October to marry or after he arrives in the States we have 90 days to marry?

After receiving the visa, how long does it usually take to receive it? Just trying to possibly get us home on the same flight because I am trying to attend the interview. I get 5 weeks vacation per year so it might be a good chance he can come back with me.

Ms.tee u have 90 days to marry after entering on the K-1 -- since u know she di case reach a Kingston areadi start making sure everything else is in place. It's possible you can get a September interview date.

Kimmy -- mek di pickney dem get di shot a yard since is darerah up yahso

** Paging Ells**

I just seen your post about the Mr being uninterested and what ever you do DO NOT become frustrated. I try to tell all my brides... well people i know getting married that most times the man will NEVER be as interested in the details as we are. All they want to know is what are they eating and drinking the rest is up to you. Your going through what a lot of ladies go through. Now granted there are some husbands out there that do help with the planning but for the most part its to keep the future Mrs off there back.

It was the same way with my soon to be one day ex he could care less and sometimes at night I was up worried and he was just sleeping or playing his stupid X-Box. As long as we had fried chicken on the menu (which I later took off) he was contempt. When you sit back and think about its really our day in a way and I guess they figure why participate in something they know at the end its going to be what we want anyway.

Calm down chica that is what your MOH is for pesture her with the details and just tell Mr. to be at the darn alter....

Thanks DaDa! I know it's mostly me fussing but the thing is, he DOES care but he doesn't like doing the 'homework' involved with it. He's way more fussy than me about what he's wearing. He's on to his 2nd outfit selection now. But it's partially true, he mostly just wants to know what he has to do the day of & leave the rest to me. I don't have a MOH or any bridesmaids so it's just up to my good friend who's my 'planner'....I'm trying to just let it all go now & know things will work out fine even if we don't have all the music we want & it's going to be fun & who cares if it's not perfect.

ok..cause hubby did his medical but the kids just have updated regular shots...ok mi a go tell her

I'm guessing since the kids have the vaccination cards from school shots, etc., they'll probably just have to show those as proof they've had the proper vacs done.

I have a few questions that my fiances mom just asked me and please forgive me and be patient with me for my lack of knowledge:

The date on the NOA of 10/30 is when it expires. Basically, you have until 10/30 to do the interview. However, if for some reason there was a hold up with the interview scheduling, as long as your case is still in process, they will disregard that expiration date. Once you are approved at the embassy, the visa is good for 6 months so he can use it up till the 6 month mark when that expires. If he didn't want to come right away & wanted to get things settled at home, he'd have 6 months to use it. The 90 day deadline happens the day he arrives at POE in the U.S.

I took 3 weeks off & our interview was two days after I arrived. Got in that night, did our business the next day of paying the visa fee, etc., drove to Kingston, got a hotel room & had our interview early the next morning. The visa then was available a week to the day later. (Interview Wednesday, visa ready Wednesday.) It might have been there sooner but I followed instructions & waited the full week like they ask you to at the embassy. By then I still had a week & 1/2 left of my time there. If I'd known it was going to come so quick, I would've cut a week off my trip but I wanted to make sure to give the embassy plenty of time in case of any delays because you never know how that will go.

I do have all my paperwork. He signed the DS-230 part I, I have 3 years worth of taxes, pictures when we were together with me and him and me with his family. We both have birth certificates, I have my passport, no criminal background, he is about to go see about the medical. Anything else I need? I hope we get a Sept. date because my birthday is on the 18th. Wouldn't that be crazy if the interview is the same day as my birthday?

You guys are SUCH a big help.

wait deh --

Do u have the police certificate, non-impiedment forms and all the other forms you have to bring with you to the interview...did u turn in the DS-230 yet? You can go ahead and do it since the case is in town. you can either DHL it to the embassy or ask the embassy for an appt to drop it off

I am feeling a little better this morning, should be back to work tomorrow.

I am worried that no news is not good news where culture is concerned. I hope that she comes to give us an update today.

Lawny, sorry you are going through so much, safe travels for you tomorrow (F) My heart goes out to your friend too, so much on her plate.

He said the sweetest things to me this morning :luv:

He said looking into my eyes is like looking into a mirror, he said the first time we touched it was like water touching water an he could just melt into me...

lawd, the man knows just how to put the things I feel into words

I pray for a NOA2 every day... this LDR thing is the hardest thing I have ever gone through... and I lost my Mom at 19 years old... I know pain...

anyway, I think I need more rest.... sure miss ya'll...

...Speaking of which, have you figured out if you are going to chance it and buy him a ticket on your return flight?...

I checked with the airline about purchasing the ticket in advance. She said that it takes up to 4 hrs for a credit card to go through, so if I purchase a flight by credit card, it needs to be 4 hrs in advance of check-in. But if paying with cash, it can be up to check-in time.

I hadn't thought to buy him a ticket now. But that's a good idea. What I'll do is see what tickets cost last minute, compared to purchasing a refundable one. If it's cheaper to buy a refundable ticket instead of waiting until the morning of, that's what I'll do.

Apparently @ the embassy, there is one guy that loves to recycle his jokes. He told the same joke to ToAliWithLove's group as he told to Kerran's group a month earlier (Good news / bad news).

what is the joke?

He comes out and says "I have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?" Everyone will say "bad news" as usual. He then says "You will not be called in order of the # on your ticket." The good news is "You will go home before the other group of people" (meaning the visitor visa folks).
