It is expensive for sure. Right now we live in one of the farthest burbs and we want to move into a closer CHI town burb in the near future so we are saving because a 3 bed 2 bath town home goes for like 280 thousand. ugh one bad thing. Oh and a home is like 400 thousand. double sigh

LOL, that's cheap compared to here - a 3 bed 2 bath town home is 400K and up!

I love Chicago too - lots of my cousins are out in that area -

Yeah this is still the burbs though not even close to the city. :( Wow I can't imagine being more expensive. Do live in NY or CA?

ok, so who of you live in an urban, suburban or rural setting? which do you live and which do you prefer?

I won't do rural settings. I like to have a grocery store close by my house. Not going 15 miles to next town for a general store. Just not for me.

I can do urban or suburban. I go for more suburban when I have kids. Right now I'm in the suburbs!! Only place I could afford a house.

I would LOVE to be in the country with a huge garden and some farm animals. But, close enough to town to work, schools, and have some conveniences. Just havent' found that place yet.

But don't they sale rum cream in the states?

Haven't looked, but I bet they sell it at World Market. Irish cream is close... that's what I'll get sometimes (Irish cream on the rocks)

i really like austin texas too

Yeah. I was gonna suggest Austin. I loved the two summers I lived there. Houston, Texas is good for the diversity & cost of living, but a lot of people who move here don't like the size - it's really big so you tend to drive far to go from one place to the other.

I especially like that Houston is close to the Caribbean; it's easy to take a cruise or hop on a flight from here.

We have looked for JA rum cream all over the city here but can't find none and on the net too. The only place we found was in Canada.

ells - how old is lehi?

He's 26...I'm 10 years older but sometimes I act 10 years younger than him.

hello yardies.. sorry been trying to stay busy at work and youngest start skool monday..and got my child support meeting notice in the mail..gosh my stomach is turning flips..

ells.. i feel ya babygirl.. i can't stand no man nuh wan help  u right jg.. that is NORMAL.. i did everything for my wedding BUT if ya nuh wan ie like that.. MEK HIM KNOA!.. but give it some time.. u spoiled him my gyal..( ducks while yardies throw bricks lol) u was always talking bout holding his hand thru this and that.. its ok to support but we want a MAN, so we can't treat them so and then expect them to man up.. let him know how u feel and he will adjust im sure..love u and ur wedding will all come together at the end.. u WATCH..

Quana, try not to stress too much over the meeting. You are an excellent Mom I can tell so you don't have anything to worry about.

 And you're right, I did spoil him. I knew he needed the extra help but I wonder if I shouldn't have made him work a little harder for it & even struggle more if he had to. I am going to lay my expectations out there though & let him know what I need from him so he can be the man I know he can be.

I have some!:dance: I got back from my gazillion meetings and had an email from the embassy. They couldn't give us the interview date on Sept 7, as requested, but gave us Sept 14!

YAAAAAYYY!! :dance::dance: FINALLY!

No sah! Mi nah breed! Auntie Flo is on her way out of town so I know that can't be. I'm just really tired & frustrated. Mister has been sleeping a lot lately (maybe he's depressed?) & I'm not getting the kind of input from him on some of our planning that I would like. I feel like I'm doing everything!

This seems to be a fairly common complaint amongst women getting married. I know I heard it from several of my coworkers as they were planning... Their men wouldn't give much input, but then after the fact suddenly has all these preferences. I sense your frustration (and surely you don't actually want to collect cats!) but maybe that type of activity is not for [some] men.

That's what frustrates me is that I know he'll have his preferences after the fact when he could've made them known ahead of time. That's just the way he is....wonder if it's a Libra thing (can't make up his mind).

ok, here is the great news:

mi cousin just get back from ja and brought me 3 bokkles a rum cream!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

:dance::thumbs:

btw, congrats nat

i bet you busy making lists now, compiling stuff, writing down all sorts of things in excel

yuh start yuh excel sheet about what to pack yet?

:rofl: I love that about ya though Nat! You make organization an art form.

ooohh u bad gyal u!!!!

ok, rum cream not nice as preggers but its up there...

UHHH...yes it is too as nice! I think better....when you're preggers you don't get to have rum cream!:lol:

When you all quote those housing prices, my head absolutely explodes. I could have practically a mansion here for $400,000. Seriously.

Add to that the housing limitation, traffic congestion, and the rest of the costly expenses......well, no thank you.

I'll just keep visiting Chicago and D.C. and hope to make it to the rest of you eventually.

Hey Journee....I think we were trying to figure out how you posted a "." and that's it.

How r u doing? How is the business in Ja?

I'm trying to figure out if she wants to go see Tyler in drag on Friday with me and SG.

Where are you, Journee?????

I am in CT - But I am really close to NYC, so a lot of people live in this area and commute in to the city - it's about a 45 minute train ride - Which drives the housing prices up to ridiculous levels, and makes the traffic horrendous -

I don't think I could live in a rural area either - I like suburban - being close enough to the city and having stores nearby, but being able to see the grass still. I love getting up in the morning and watching the deer and baby bunnies run around my yard - Yet I can still be at the grocery store in 5 minutes, and in NYC in about 45.

I also need to be close to a beach -

Oops, and Happy Anniversary a little early!

Thanks :).

ok, so who of you live in an urban, suburban or rural setting? which do you live and which do you prefer?

We would prefer a rural environment but in the burbs. So we can play are music as loud as possible. Oh and so I can move hubbys drum set out into a barn LOL. Then we can drive 5 to 10 minutes into town for convinces. Right now we are trying to find the best schools in IL for Jay to attend by Kindergarten.

hello yardies.. sorry been trying to stay busy at work and youngest start skool monday..and got my child support meeting notice in the mail..gosh my stomach is turning flips..

ive skimmed thru and i am so sorry about all the loss and bad news.. yesterday was a very hard day for the yardies.. but like jawi said, whenever the devil is busy its cuz he see how close we are to a blessing and wants us to give up.. the loss we go thru is victory for that sick person cuz they can finally lay down all the burdens of this world..

LOVE YOU ALL...

kimmy.. i know about how old ur are.. really close to me i think.. btween 28 and 32

kk.. i too am scared of the closed sew in.. i've seen wigs that look more natural sometimes.. but sometimes they look nice ??????

i too want a sew in so bad, but i just can't see me straightenig my hair that often.. i wish i was courageous to wear a lace front, but im scared of that whole glue thing.. this girl ahd one that was BEAUTIFUL.. and it was really undectable EXCEPT i could see lil globs of white.guess the glue UGGHHHHHH..

i don't think my hair is a good texture to leave out even w/ the wavy hair unless i put mousse on it everyday.. do u suggest that philly???

1 luv.. NUUUHHHHHHHHH CREEEEAAAAAAMMMMMMM lol..

ells.. i feel ya babygirl.. i can't stand no man nuh wan help  u right jg.. that is NORMAL.. i did everything for my wedding BUT if ya nuh wan ie like that.. MEK HIM KNOA!.. but give it some time.. u spoiled him my gyal..( ducks while yardies throw bricks lol) u was always talking bout holding his hand thru this and that.. its ok to support but we want a MAN, so we can't treat them so and then expect them to man up.. let him know how u feel and he will adjust im sure..love u and ur wedding will all come together at the end.. u WATCH..

Hey Quanna,

Your youngest starts school Monday :wow: that is early, I started getting school supplies but not uniforms UGHHH

You nervous about the child support notice, did you petition for an increase?

If you keep some of your hair out pon top just keep it conditioned and unfortunately you will probably have to put something in it to keep the texture. There is a great product by Elasta QP mango butter, I swear by it. It's not heavy and it hold curl and maintains your texture, I love it for my curly styles.

Thanks ladies! We need some good Yardie news NOW, approvals, babies, weddings ( positive vibes ) to all.

I have some!:dance: I got back from my gazillion meetings and had an email from the embassy. They couldn't give us the interview date on Sept 7, as requested, but gave us Sept 14!

Congrats Nat I told yuh get through! smiley-dance011.gif

no my gyal.. this is to get it going.. i opted out to get my divorce quick fast and in a hurry.. he agreed to help.. he hasn't (well not enough) and now i filed.. its such a shame..

ok.. i will remember that when i go for it! i like elasta products.. i am gonna try a full lace i think this weekend.. im SCARED LOL
