i know its okay to be cautious and not have blinded eyes, but i really have to relax and live life man, he's given me to reason to think anything but good things about him..

LOL, Quana - One of my friends did that - she was ALWAYS looking for the shoe to drop and the negative with her man - based on her past experiences - I was forever telling her she needed to just jump in and trust that he was the good guy he seemed to be. They just celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary and it hasn't dropped yet.

Quana - Roger seems reasonable...if something comes out...TELL HIM...be frank and address it then. I'm sure he'll recognize it and change.

You have to have Faith in God that Roger is the one for you. Ya'll are so cute together. I wish you the best.

so let's say somebody gets convicted of drunk driving and the sentence could be more than a year but they only do 1 month. how do the deportation proceedings begin? how does the immigration people know you were convicted?

finese, from what I remember and the experiences I've seen. Some people get caught up in the system when the go to renew their greencard, returning to the US (know plenty) of people caught this way. Just because you end up in proceedings don't mean seh u ago get deported same time. You have a right to go before a Judge, with or without representation and they have to tell you that. Getting caught up in deportations proceedings can take years to resolve. My brother-in-law was in the system for 5 years before the final hearing last year. He was an overstay that filed for asylum and won!

i would hate to have to even get caught up in it.. such a mess

Quanna; it's not fun at all. Many many of friends and family I've had caught up in the system, but some a dem no RASS LISTEN!....so dem baxide! Some people feel seh dem can do as they want and not be punished...like sell dis get lack up, beat up u ooman have 8 pickney and feel dat cause di pickney dem a US citizen dem naw go deport im claat...lass mi ear a breadfruit im a sell a Ochi.

The only thing I have to say is if they come here and do some stupid stuff, they need to be responsible for their actions. The drunk and disorderly may have been just a thing. I suppose we could all have had that in our past at one time or another on some small scale. But, shoplifting? OMFG......the day Andre called me to tell me he was arrested, I ripped him a new one. WTH is wrong with anyone? Do you really need that piece of meat? Or that pair of shorts that bad? Seriously? There are places that help with that stuff if you are in that dire a need. Hell, I would give someone something to eat if they asked me or I saw the need. I'd at least buy the meat.....not the $$$$ so they can go buy some beer or crack.

Same here. Of course, I've had street people turn down food offerings because they really just wanted the $$. I've handed a supposed 'homeless vet' a wrapped burger fresh from the store & he didn't even bother to say thanks...just put it aside like I handed him a piece of doo doo. I don't really give things to people on the street anymore after enough incidents like that. Once, long before my no money policy, I gave a guy with a sob story a dollar to go to Subway cause he told me he had kids to feed. As I was getting in my car to drive off, he went a few stores over to the liquor store instead of to Subway. That's when the 'no money policy' was instated. Since the homeless vet incident, I could give a darn about them. I know, that's where my 'conservative' side (I'm more liberal generally) comes in. They have enough services that I don't need to be giving away my hard-earned $$.

ha ha....I was asleep Saturday morning when I was picked up and pushed off the bed. I said what the hell are you doing? He said I was dreaming I had no shirt on.....a squirel ran at me, up my pants leg, up my chest, and looking at me the whole time with beady little eyes. Then, I felt your hair on my chest. It was so vivid.

No more food so late.

 I know what you mean!

QUANA!! Do you think you're in Jamaica when you do that?? Littering is bad (back to my liberal side...ha ha ha)! Bad for the environment & just don't even get me started on the rest. I'm glad your youngest scolds you!:yes::bonk:

I can somewhat agree with you, JG - But, in this particular situation - it was a dumb college prank and on a dare - We have all done stupid stuff like that - It happened when he was in his late teens / early twenties, he had lived in the US for 60 years and built an empire - family, homes, his own business, employed others,..... = How is deportation the solution there after that length of time?

I think having a criminal conviction may be viewed differently from overstaying or a felony conviction may hold more weight than a misdemeanor so it’s pursued more aggressively. Not sure of each individual State but unless there is a serious accident most drunk driving charges are misdemeanors. With this fortunately he was able to supply enough evidence to support his argument against being deported. However the average whoever, only been here less than 2 years, probably won’t find themselves so fortunate. Sure it can take a while before the hearing actually comes up, but then what are they doing in the meantime for the rest of the 9 years? Are they working, can they even get a legitimate job without worrying about it. Will they just be a burden from then on out…that’s a long time watching your every move.

Every relationship is different. You can't be so jaded as to beat up everyone for the sins of people in your past.

I have found too, if you accuse and look for something long enough, you will end up finding it. So, don't do it.

OO i CAN'T  but I really wanna

Me too sometimes. But I try not to. Don't want someone doing that to me.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

LETTING GO TAKES LOVE

To let go does not mean to stop caring,

it means I can't do it for someone else.

To let go is not to cut myself off,

it's the realization I can't control another.

To let go is not to enable,

but allow learning from natural consequences.

To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means

the outcome is not in my hands.

To let go is not to try to change or blame another,

it's to make the most of myself.

To let go is not to care for,

but to care about.

To let go is not to fix,

but to be supportive.

To let go is not to judge,

but to allow another to be a human being.

To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,

but to allow others to affect their destinies.

To let go is not to be protective,

it's to permit another to face reality.

To let go is not to deny,

but to accept.

To let go is not to nag, scold or argue,

but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.

To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires,

but to take each day as it comes and cherish myself in it.

To let go is not to criticize or regulate anybody,

but to try to become what I dream I can be.

To let go is not to regret the past,

but to grow and live for the future.

To let go is to fear less and love more

and

To let go and to let God, is to find peace !

Remember: The time to love is short
