thats true finesse.. but soccer is just a hobby, its not exclusive to jamaica.. he doesn't care if he plays w/ americans or jamaicans.. he just wants to play.. and soccer (or futbol) is just not very popular down here, u drive down the street and u will either see regular football or baseball being played, if anybody is outside at all LOL.. so we have to go to whoever is playing, its just a bonus that its his country men.. but i understand where u are coming from tho..

i know. i'm just saying i've done my fair share of running around too and worrying about whether my husband was going to be truly happy here. i came to the realization that my husband is happy with trying new things and meeting new people and just being with me no matter where we are.

just don't kill yourself out. how about trying something new together? i got my husband to go to yoga class w/me...

I was really stressed about cooking white rice (I can't keep it shelly for some reason...unless I do paraboiled) for A. I mean I was so worried about it, I was thinking about telling him that I'm allergic to it. Well, I told him about my fears today and he laughed so hard. He said baby...I can't believe you are stressed about white rice...we have a good thing going if that is all you are worried about. LOL

I just want him to be happy, and I want him to make friends...they don't have to be Jamaican...but I don't want him to hate it here.

Jawi How are you feeling today? Thanks so much for your updates :reading:

I'm okay. I just found out from the company that handles my disability pay, that if I get approved for long term disability...I will no longer be on the payroll with my job, and I would have to reapply for work after my long term disability ended in two years. #######!!!!??? So, if I don't go to work Monday...I will be fired.

I can't loose my job of 11 years...so I will go in...force myself to work doped up on all kind of pills. This sucks so bad. Please pray for me that I have little to no pain...and that my neck begins to heal...Please...I need all the prayers I can get.

I believe this too Quana. I can't believe that I have never had an attendance problem...went to work every day on time even worked on the weekends if they needed me. I have always been a top performer...so much so that my productivity numbers as a rep could not be included when they set the parameters for other reps to meet. Now, I get sick and it boils down to them forcing me back into work or loose my job. 11 long years with not one single write up or discplinary action.

I will talk to HR tomorrow to see if they will be okay with me work 5-6 hours per day as a salaried employee.

I'm okay. I'm trying to get the doctor to okay me going back. I have to be released for work...or my job will send me back home.

jawi - sorry to hear of your troubles. wow, my heart goes out to you. i never knew (or asked) what happened to you.....what kind of surgery did you have?

Finesse I had neck surgery last November and I didn't heal from it...so they had to do a 2nd more intense surgery last month. I was cut in the front and back of my neck. I can't even swallow food without chewing it to mush or I will choke to death. I'm in pretty bad shape...but I guess it doesn't matter. I don't know how I'm going to drive since I haven't even been released to drive yet.

I'm home...dry and clean...getting ready to shimmy.

Finesse - I agree. I stressed myself about Damien's adjustment to the US for nothing. He adjusted well.

Jawi - (F) Now you see why I was so upset about my two co-workers - one hasn't stepped foot in our office in an year and still getting paid. The other one has been out since March still getting paid...not getting charged 1 minutes of annual or sick leave...crazy. Claims they are working from home....whatever.

I am so sorry to hear this a similar incident happened to my friend who has MS. Is this outlined in the companies policies and procedures, is there any type of appeal process? What other recourse do you have aside from returning to work prior to being released by your Doctor. Were you counseled by HR on your options before going out prior to your last surgery? I will definitely be praying for you! This is too stressful for you coupled with your physical pain, I feel for you right now. You should not have to work under this type of direst ? This is not right!

I can't afford the gas it would require for my son's father or A to drive me back and forth to work. I stay 50 miles away from work...one way. The surgery normally takes about 3 months for healing to start. Unfortunately, I don't have 3 months...I mean technically I do because I can get full pay for two years on LTD...but I would loose all my other benefits...health/dental insurance and my 11 years of service would be thrown away just like that.

A requirement of actually getting LTD would be for me to file for SSA disability too. I don't think I would even get it...maybe after getting a lawyer. I know that God can change things. I have to talk to HR tomorrow when they get back in the office. They were offsite today and couldn't help me.

I'm okay. I'm a member of management and had no clue that this was what our LTD benefits entailed. They make us think that we will be taken care of as far as a job...I really thought I was going to have a job but my pay was going to be reduced to 60%. Boy was I misinformed. I talked to another supervisor earlier...and he thought the same thing. MetLife (Disability company) told me that I may be able to work out something with my HR department if I believe that I will only be out for another month or so...but it was no guarantee and they don't have to do anything for me.

My sister told me that I may be able to have my manager approve me for unpaid leave but keep my job. Unfortunately, I have two kids to feed and a mortgage...I can't afford to go without pay...even for a week.

HR didn't counsel me about anything. I think they use their policies as a way to either weed you out or get those people that are faking back into work. The sad thing is that this affects those of us that really need the time to heal.

I love my job...so I will go in and work to the best of my ability. I think I would be okay after another month...but I don't have that luxury now.
