I stay at El Greco all the time. $97 is about what I pay booking online but they do have different prices for JA vs US posted in the lobby.

Which website? Their website is giving me $133 before taxes.

Oh no, I’m a price stalker. El Greco does not charge fees and taxes, so you won’t have to add that in but I usually stalk the mainstream sites (any of them really because they all have that price match guarantee so they try to keep the same rates…hotels.com, expedia, priceline, etc., my job also has a travel agency site that will quote the same prices.) I wouldn’t think you would get that rate now if you’re looking because it’s inflated due to Sumfest. But because I know their cheapest rate (and they have been pretty consistent for the past 1 ½ that I have been going) I just wait until it comes down. They’re usually never without available suites whenever I plan to stay so I don’t worry with waiting like I might with some of the others…as long as it’s not during some major time e.g. Christmas, New Year’s, etc.

u better the hell not jawi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

look girl u have come so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!u better not push it back for that exhibit..even tho it sounds really nice.. good for the kids to see. i need to get a lil culture in mylife

philly.. don't worry when hubby get on.. u will be able to pursue ur dreams.. u do really have an eye, u too jawi!!! we just need our help mates to get here so we can reach our dreams a lil easier..

Ooooh Jawi 2nd that. Let that frustration be your strength towards a speedy recovery. How much longer do you have on your restrictions, is there a set time or is it really just up to your body. (You know how they’ll be like keep a caste on for 6mo. or so...is it something like that or is it really when you’re feeling better you can pick up your normal activities.) Please girl be patient with this one, though it sounds like a wonderful opportunity for your son…someone else has to take the blame for his shortcomings on this one. You are superwoman enough all the other times.

Evening Yardies!

It took me all day to catch up since I was out yesterday. Now everyone is gone. :crying:

Ells - You know how I feel about dogs...they are part of the family. But I do think bring a dog to a wedding is a bit much. Just a tad bit much.

Thanks, I thought so too!

Morning all!

I tried to get on here from home this am and had the same problems as yesterday -

Ells, I would put my foot down about the dog - It's YOUR day, not hers - if it's not okay with you, too bad - and if she can't come without the dog, I would say that she can't come -

Nat, sorry about the interview - at least you are close!

Sometimes I have a hard time remembering IT'S ABOUT ME this time! I'm going to tell her that it's not okay...I just have to find a tactful way to do so.

Okay, why does my friend think it's okay to bring her yappy little dog to my wedding ceremony just because it's outside?? I love dogs, really I do. But I HATE this dog & she's become weird since she adopted it. It doesn't like anyone & is very skittish. She thinks because she wants to drive 3 hours to attend my wedding, that her dog should be able to come too. I'm ready to tell people to forget about it!

Hey Ells, I have the same mind set as you I love animals but this is not that type of party. I can see if you brought your own animal its YOUR day but for others to bring animals I think that may be on the verge of disrespect.

OMG! I just realize something...one week from today is my --- I'm so emotional (let me not cry)...it's my, I can't even type it

Awwwwwe Congrats million times YOU are so blessed!!

Yep, foot coming down! I can't believe it's something I even have to deal with. I'm appalled that a person would just TELL me that I won't even notice her dog at my ceremony because she'll have a rawhide chew toy. Didn't even ask...just told me!

Congrats on the anniversary Lawny!

You know how Facebook suggests friends for you.... I'm wondering how it knows that I know some of these people it's suggesting. For example, my ex. Today is the 2nd or 3rd time Facebook suggested that I add him as a friend. I've seen other people that I know even less suggested as friends. I'd love to know the algorithm behind that...

i agree.. my ex husband has been suggested sevearal times.. i mean just cuz we have the same last name and live in the same city GIGANTIC city.. why are we being linked.. UGHHHH

oh good morning all.. im catching up..thanks jawi for making sure i was in the mix yesterday..

i took off, it was roger and my 2nd year annivesary of meeting..

Congrats on your anniversary too Quana!

Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I haven’t been on in a while because of work but since my company is closing anyway I figured why not check in on VJ. :D Hope everything is well with everyone!

J2A, sorry to read about the job but glad you don't have to worry about finances right away.

always easy to make friends, I got along with everyone and everyone loved me my only draw back in school other than being bored, they made my brother and I take ESOL...I was pissed, but I took it for one year. My accent through the teachers off ... one minute heavy british accent then blend up patwah.

Lawny you always get me laughing!:lol:

girl, they use me "jamaican booty scartcher"...then when I got to middle school, when I would walk down the halls they would sing "jamaican funk that's what it is"...by high school they tried to mess with me the first year, but that's when the other west indians and I had enough and stopped being nice. I got some baby powered, salt, some rubber snakes, a long black skirt (wore that on Tuesdays and Thrursdays) wore all white Monday, Wednesday and Friday and tied my head up with a long red head tie...those biacthes that threw clue in my long hair cause they were jealous, I would sprinkle salt and my friends and I would blow baby powder on them as they walked by me ...a few days later three of them fell at a football game and got hurt...they said I cause it...u know the ending of this...dem lef we alone fram dem -- some of the teachers were also afraid of us

:rofl::rofl:

 Too much. When I went to school in Oklahoma, some people would ask if I did voodoo since I was from New Orleans. I figured I'd take advantage of that situation, so next time I went to New O, I bought a $1 voodoo doll from the French Market. At school, if someone was getting on my nerves I'd take a strand of their hair and bring out the voodoo doll. Worked every time.

ok...i feel so popular now that i am on facebook.... :D ...but some of the people i am accepting i have no clue who are they....

I have a spreadsheet that can help you... I'll send it to you on FB when I get home from work.

:wow::o NAT! I didn't know you had that in you!

Can I have the spreadsheet please?? :help:

OMG the Crypt Keeper Ex- Manager and I just had a few words but I kept my composure cause I know she is nuts! Yesterday my Manager spoke to her about this order that I am hand holding and not passing off to her group because it is an Engineering order but he wants her group to be aware so they can shadow me on the order and learn the process ( although I am not supposed to be working orders only Engineering them but the COO requested I do it sooooooo I am doing it) Well she was ok with it yesterday when he spoke to her but she just spazzed out on me because he is back in NYC! You will work with me not anyone on my team as she turned red and started shaking! I just looked at her B) it took all I had in me not to laugh. She needs to seriously chill out!

The crypt keeper sounds like she needs to get laid! (Did I say that??) :innocent::whistle:

OMG Hubby is singing a song...of course I can't recognize it from his version. I just asked him who sings hit. He said either Gladys Night or Mariah Carey. I am like wow that is a big difference in people... I am cracking up.

Dillon that is too funny.

:lol::lol:

 my husb "thinks" he knows the words to every song. he puts on the ipod and sings sometimes and i'm like #######??? he thought the stanky leg was the spanky layup..

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

My mister has been singing MJ songs & the one that says, "hold me, like the River Jordan" (can't remember the name) was on & he started singing, "hold me, like a pack of macaroni". I just looked at him like this :blink::blink::blink: & told him those ARE NOT the words!

Today is my second anniversary :)

Ordered hubby some chocolate covered strawberries :)

First time we met, we ate a dozen between us....aww the memories!!!!

Happy anniversary JaEnglish!

okay..i am ALLL caught up.. (singing ushers song)

i went to my spins class las night, it was more bearable today.. i guess the more i do it.. the more i will be ABLE to do it.. im gonna have to get on the ball, too much rice and peas make quana a dumpling.. LOL

:rofl: Was that supposed to sound like the part in the Shining when Jack typed 'too much work & no play' a billion times on the typewriter??

why would they treat jamaicans so badly there? is this the norm at an AI?

IMO, it's normal in a lot of places in JA. Not just AIs.

I agree.

they treat Jamaicans like $hit because they know they won't get the same "warm" treatment (money, connections to go a farrin, etc)

so there is no benefit to being nice to jamaicans

Sad, but unfortunately true. Steams me to no end!:angry:

I am rolling...Jonesie asked me what was so funny...so I told her what you all were talking about...she started laughing and said her husband is the same way. She said on his 1st Christmas here, the song Feliz Navidad came on and he was singing to the top of his lungs "Police nyam mi dawg"...she said the whole family stopped and looked at him...then they all burst out laughing when they found out what "nyam" meant.

LMAO!!!!! I needed this laugh today....oh boy did I ever need it.

But I love that you have some 'white' in you too! I wish we lived close & could all rock out together! That would be too much trouble!:lol::yes:

i am platinum now...237 more posts til my heart

Almost there! Keep going! You can have your heart in one week if you post approx. 35 times a day!

Okay, I'm looking out the balcony at work and there is about 12 or more men outside doing the routine to "single ladies"....

JG --- don't laugh too loud -- u know the area

Ha ha.....my bike friend down there?

did I tell you he has a platinum wig now and yellow pumps

I have no idea what you all are talking about but this sounds nuts! Can someone please post a picture of this??

I really want to go to the America I Am: The African American Imprint exhibit @ the Atlanta Civic Center this weekend with the kids. It sucks that I have to rely on other people to get around because I still can't drive. My oldest son wants to go to Six Flags, and I can't drive him...his father won't drive him for some reason. It makes me so mad.

I want to go to White Waters...but I can't. I just feel so frustrated and so damn trapped. *sigh* I'm tired of sitting in this room...in bed!

(L)(F) Soon enough this will all be a distant memory and you will be doing everything you have been wanting to do but couldn't....prayers for you my friend!

Okay... if I can figure out which K you are. ;)

I'm very happy to report that Tia made it into the Top 8! Thanks to all who voted.

Edited to Add: I see that Bunz beat me to revealing the news! Do you know Sandy, Bunz? I'm just glad that the chick from the Top 15 that was hitting on Steven didn't make it to the Top 10.

How strange is this...

I dreamed my family (parents, sister, and I) went to visit my best friend who just moved to New York. When we were waiting for her to buzz us in, some giant Great Dane came running up to us wanting to play. As I'm not a dog person, I shooed him away. But then I remembered that Thompson2B has mentioned having a Great Dane named Mamadou before, so I asked my best friend if someone named ____ _____ (Thompson2B's real name) lived in her complex. She said yup!

Later, my friend and I were returning to her complex and we passed Thompson2B, whom my friend pointed out. I didn't say hi, though.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
