Most people don't realize you can do it - I didn't - At the time, I just wanted out of my previous job - the money was about the same, the commute, etc... - much more room for advancement and growth, though. So instead of arguing salary, I decided to argue benefits, and it worked -

yep.. i had NO idea.. only thing i ever haggled on was pay.. thats great to know!!! sus can haggle ANYTHING tho..im convinced..

i get 12 hrs leave per mnth (not counting sick leave, get 8 hrs per mnth) ..if i would stop using it all willy nilly, maybe i could save and get a good long vacay..

Today is my second anniversary :)

Ordered hubby some chocolate covered strawberries :)

First time we met, we ate a dozen between us....aww the memories!!!!

Happy Anniversary

This is messed up:

ADEL, Ga. (July 16) -- A Georgia man spent more than a year behind bars for failing to pay child support for a child that wasn't his, but he was released after DNA tests showed he wasn't the father.

Frank Hatley, 50, had been jailed since June 2008 for not making payments, but two separate DNA tests in the last nine years showed he was not the father of the boy, who is now 21.

Southern Center for Human Rights attorney Sarah Geraghty won Hatley's release at a hearing Wednesday in Superior Court. A court order has also relieved him of his financial obligation to the Georgia Department of Human Resources.

"State child support officials have shown extraordinarily poor judgment in Mr. Hatley's case," Geraghty said.

Although Hatley was freed from making future payments after a 2001 hearing, Superior Court Judge Dan Perkins had ordered him to continue making $16,000 in back payments. He paid $6,000 of that before being laid off from his job.

Perkins ordered Hatley's immediate release Wednesday after determining that he was indigent. Although he was released, Hatley's paternity case is still unresolved. No future hearings are scheduled.

"Out of it all, I just feel like justice should be served for me in this case," Hatley told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution shortly after his release. "I shouldn't have to keep being punished for a child that is not mine."

Hatley had a relationship with Essie Lee Morrison, who had a baby in 1987 and told Hatley the child was his, according to court records. The couple never married and split up shortly afterward.

In 1989, Morrison applied for public assistance through the state Department of Human Resources. Hatley agreed to reimburse the state because he believed the boy was his.

Documents show Hatley paid at least $9,500.

But in 2000, DNA samples showed the two were not related, according to court records. A test earlier this month confirmed that.

im hope there will be some kind of retribution..such a shame..

Sus, I have mixed feelings about that case...

The man, thinking the child was his, didn't support the child initially. So even though he later found it that it wasn't his, it could've easily been his & he was intentionally not paying support when he should have.

Now the woman was definitely wrong, too, for telling him that the child was his when she was double-dipping... but I don't really feel sorry for the man.

While I agree that he was wrong not to support the child if he thought it was his - It is wrong to put a man in jail for a YEAR when you know that the child isn't his, he got laid off from work and had no income - that's just an abuse of justice -

Did you download FB through the blackberry apps site? You should see a little camera along the top row - that's how you upload photos to it.

Oh. I just re-read the story & saw the last line, which I'd missed before. I didn't realize that even AFTER they knew the child wasn't his, he was jailed. That IS just wrong.

girl those rocks are SLIPPERY.. that sound TERRIBLE omg.. i had slipped a couple of times, but nothing like that.. i had several friends that stopped.. it wasn't until i was almost done that i realized they had lil exits here and there.. i was SOOOO FReAKING SCARED..

The lifeguard said to never attempt to turn around and go back down. Guess that was our first mistake. LOL I thought I was dead for sure. And I smashed my heel on a rock when I feel and for the rest of the trip I swore it was fractured. Thank God it wasn't.

:o The falls are so well advertised. I didn't realize it was so dangerous. Thought about taking my kids the next time they went down, but never mind.

It was fun. It was a bit scary; but fun. A do it once kind of thing.

I can't imagine that attraction in the US without a buttload of release forms signed before the climb.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all July Babies!

Thanks, SG.

BTW.....next Wednesday for Happy Hour works for me.

ok, i'm worried now.

someone mentioned on here earlier today that I-130's are only on November 2003 for processing...which prompted me to check the uscis website. This information does state on the website to be true but I know for sure when i checked this out prior to filing for my stepd that it said 5 months for processing. so how can this be? i might have to consult those immigration experts on the other thread...anybody know?

Who is filing for your stepdad? You?

They also process those for immediate (husband, child, stepchild)family members first.....Then, the rest get visas when there are numbers available. Those additional numbers are limited every year. Thus, the difference in numbers.
