thats what i always wonder, even tho it will be WAYYY down the line.. i feel sorry for the kiddos.. i would hate to have a new home, new step mom, new skool, new COUNTRY and then have a hard time getting friends..

You forget that kids are forgiving and accepting at a young age -

When I was a camp counselor, we had two kids from Poland come to camp - they had been adopted by American relatives, and didn't speak a WORD of English - We had a counselor who spoke Polish, and she went around with them - By the end of the summer, they were TOTAL chatterboxes in English!

always easy to make friends, I got along with everyone and everyone loved me my only draw back in school other than being bored, they made my brother and I take ESOL...I was pissed, but I took it for one year. My accent through the teachers off ... one minute heavy british accent then blend up patwah.

Thanks Tre! I told his Mom to send his school records and I know he will be carrying his shot record. I wonder if he is going to have the same problem of being bored. I know he has been going to a Catholic School in Kingston and I know you went to one too. Wonder if he is going to flip out going to a public school now. Should be fun to watch. Did your parents ever ask if you could be moved up a grade?

Dillon, I was 2 grades ahead for my age, my parents wanted to do that, but the only way that could have been done was to put me in private school and they could not afford that in the states, so my brother and I dealt with it. I was very depressing, then to add, we couldn't eat the food and got hospitalized.

sounds like you had a rough adjustment...hope his is easier.

Finesse.....not all guests are spies. Some are just visiting us, gathering useful information but afraid to speak up. We get people all the time who say they have been reading us for years and one day get the urge to sign up.

Some are like Roxcie somehow used to be....signed in but not showing up for some reason.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

It was easy for me to make friends...damn, I was Ms. International, but it was difficult for me to understand them...sometimes I still have problems understanding some Americans depends on where they're from.

That makes me think of Tierra when she went to school in St Lucia... she said "I like it mama but I can't understand anyone". Everyone would gush over T and one little girl said they were sisters. So she loved the attention but I am sure she had no clue as to what was going on half the time.

Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I haven’t been on in a while because of work but since my company is closing anyway I figured why not check in on VJ. :D Hope everything is well with everyone!

Nat - I know I missed it while I was on holiday, but congrats on the NOA2. Sorry you weren’t able to get the letter in time for the Medical. Hopefully still, you’ll be able to get an interview while you’re there. I think they have held up your file long enough so they should just express service it through.

I know I’ve missed a lot and I would like to acknowledge everyone’s special events, weddings, upcoming interviews and other significant dates, but there is no way I am going to be able to catch up on all the past post, so best wishes to all! :star:

Hey Sis I just came back in the office I went running out of here screaming from all the projects I am literally dreaming about this stuff :blink:

A word of warning here.....if you want to truly be private and secure, go to the settings and make ALL the setting tabs FRIENDS ONLY. Then you can control it.

I learned that the hard way.

You've mentioned this several times. I might have to go back to previous threads to get the full story. But that's good advice about Facebook. I know when I joined over 5 years ago, there was some default privacy setting that changed a few years ago. I went back & made very necessary adjustments... not that my online identity is really that secretive.

i know what u mean girl.. i opted out of c/s but lately i been rethinking that.. hmmm LOL

What is c/s?

All this talk about Facebook...Is it really that good...My hubby has one but he is hardly on it...he checks every so often because his sister is on it and they talk sometimes using that but i don't see how someone can get so wrapped up into it...IDK...i guess its because i don't have that many friends.... :crying: ...

I forgot; are you from the USA or Jamaica? If you're from the USA, I bet you have TONS of 'friends' on Facebook. You can search for people based on schools, jobs, common interests.. I'm friends with people from elementary school, high school, college, work, church, family, and various organizations I'm in (or was in).

Add yourself to the Yardies - You will have about 40 instant friends who will keep you laughing, lol

Very true!

oh ok.. thats cool.. whew.. girl w/ this TX heat..im surprised ya'll venture anywhere but in front ot that a/c.. im glad my kids went on vacay w/ their dad and now the summer camp has taken them somewhere every week.. i can't manage in this heat..

Picture when I got home from work, I was cold in my apartment. I thought to myself "This is weird. I don't even run the air conditioner and it's summer time in Houston!" Later that evening, I realized that when the apartment complex shampooed my carpet yesterday, they turned on the air!!! Watch my electricity bill double for that 5 hours of air.

Hey Cat...how much longer until T comes home from her Dad's house. I guess my daughter wont be home until sometime next week...I was expecting her this weekend. :crying:

girl, they use me "jamaican booty scartcher"...then when I got to middle school, when I would walk down the halls they would sing "jamaican funk that's what it is"...by high school they tried to mess with me the first year, but that's when the other west indians and I had enough and stopped being nice. I got some baby powered, salt, some rubber snakes, a long black skirt (wore that on Tuesdays and Thrursdays) wore all white Monday, Wednesday and Friday and tied my head up with a long red head tie...those biacthes that threw clue in my long hair cause they were jealous, I would sprinkle salt and my friends and I would blow baby powder on them as they walked by me ...a few days later three of them fell at a football game and got hurt...they said I cause it...u know the ending of this...dem lef we alone fram dem -- some of the teachers were also afraid of us
