Reason for petition to interview time difference?

Checking stats on VJ today I see:

K3 - Avg. Days between Consulate

Receiving Information from NVC

and Actual Interview - 23 days

IR1 CR1 - Avg. Days

btw NOA2

and Interview - 213 days

Why does the CR1 take that much longer?

As much as CR1 is a more complete option - my wife and I just want to be able to see one another asap.. thoughts on this? (aside from hearts ruling heads argument) :P

I know that in Canada, the K-3 is more beneficial for those living in Western Canada because the K-3 can interview in Vancouver, a much less busy consulate than Montreal which is the only consulate that processes Cr-1.

As for Britain, I have no idea.

Good luck.

The short and oversimplified answer is that the K3 allows for processing AFTER you arrive in the US(AOS).

Since the CR1 is a more "complete option" as you put it, it is processed in full at NVC after USCIS approves the petition and BEFORE the interview. This adds additional time.

The K3 goes right through NVC and to the consulate to schedule an interview. But your "processing" is done after arrival.

Also, most consulates schedule K visas faster than immigrant ones. Sometimes a difference of 30-60 days.

The bottomline is, what is important to you? Seeing eachother sooner and not being able to work the first 3 months, additional cost for AOS? Or waiting longer and having a GC within weeks of arrival?

Good Luck on your journey

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I too was totally scared off by those numbers but I've found that they are completely incorrect. Part of it has to do with the fact that those timeframes measure two different things, and part is also that it's outdated and there aren't enough K3s to really give a good idea. Let me try and explain.

The timeframe for the K3 measures only the time that the embassy has the case in its hands. The numbers for the CR1 count everything after the NOA2. To be fair they should really both be measured as time from the NOA2, but they're not.

And I know that those timeline pages say it only reflects data for the last 365 days but I think that's incorrect. That CR-1 number is the same as it was when I joined VJ 8 months ago and things have picked up a lot since then now that most of us are using all the shortcuts.

The CR1 timeframe seems huge, I know. But it's not actually that long. Don't worry. From NOA2 to interview, mine will be exactly 90 days. There are quite a few of us about to go in for CR1 interviews and I think it's been a pretty comparable timeframe. Many others have done it in less than 90 days as well. Check out this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry3081090 and look at the timelines there to get a better sense of how things are moving now.

These days, NVC can do everything via email, which cuts out a lot of time. Also make sure to review the LingChe shortcuts here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut which will also save you a lot of time.

Bottom line is, don't be intimidated. As long as you are prepared for NVC you should get through it in a reasonable amount of time and you can expect to have an interview scheduled for the month after your case is completed. This varies based on the week that your case is completed- if it's done after the second week of the month expect it to be the month after that. For example my case was completed the third week of June and I have an interview in early August.

Oh and for comparison's sake, my K3 interview still hasn't been scheduled. My CR-1 case made it through NVC and got to the embassy before they scheduled the K3 interview, so the K3 will automatically be dismissed. The K3, in London at least, saves you no time at all. There are also loads of posts in the UK section about the embassy slacking on scheduling K1 interviews these days (which are scheduled the same way K3s are).

Sorry for the novel, just hope you choose the CR-1 (as long as you don't have reasons other than the timeline to choose K3).

From that NVC guide that was provided.

"1. NOA2 - Petition(s) Approved Notice(s) from USCIS.

You find out from USCIS that your "Petition was Approved".

If you didn’t get all the paperwork required for AOS and IV, NOW is the time. Especially PCC (Police Clearance Certificate), Birth Certificates and Tax info, as well as any other info needed for I-864.

Hang on…NVC knows NOTHING about your case yet."

What tax information does the beneficiary need to provide?

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...OS_Package.29_:

Basically you'll need tax transcripts OR full tax returns plus W-2s, 1040, etc to accompany the I-864. Also some sort of proof of current income is recommended (pay stubs, employment letter, etc.). And if you're having a joint sponsor you'll need the same from them.

Also, have you checked with the AVR at NVC to see if you've got a case number yet? It's been a week since your NOA2 so they might have it by now.

Edit: Whoops just reread your question. The beneficiary does not need to provide any tax info. The petitioner fills out the support documents, so it's their taxes you need.

Sorry, may seem a little thick but are you referring to the USC tax info?

Did you try the I-130 case number or the I-129f case number? The 129f never loads into the AVR.

I guuuuess it's possible it hasn't gotten there yet. I'm always jumping the gun, even when it's other people's cases apparently!

I used the 130 assuming that it'd be more relevant - however for completeness sake I guess I should have given the 129 a shot too.

Yep you were right to check the 130. Once you know they've got that one though you can call and speak to an operator to get the case number for the 129f and find out when it's forwarded to the embassy if you'd like to continue on the K-3 path just in case (like I did).
