When did they do away with letting you leave camera's and such at the security booth? I remember forgetting to leave my mobile at home and leaving that and my camera with them in a little cubby at the booth. other than that yup exactly the same as I remembered

It was some time last year. I had to go to the Embassy several times before the actual interview to meet with the IRS dudes there, and I was thankful to be able to stash my phone and Blackberry for free with them as I was visiting on my lunch break. It cracked me up that you collected your things through a little window in the back of the booth, so official.

Watching The Omen the other day, it seems they actually used the embassy for a couple of scenes. Couldn't be sure, though... No big fences or cops with guns :he:

The security checkpoint is a lot nicer than when I was there (it was a building site back in Apr' 08). And the inside waiting area looks like it's been tarted up a bit too

I think is was in June 08. By July, when we went, the construction was finished and they seemed to do away with lining up by appointment time as had been reported and we were expecting.
