NAO2 : I-797 approval notice has expired ? re-validate ?

My fiancee just had an awful experience at the US Embassy in Tashkent, but I guess this is for another topic.

Our concern right now is :

Summary :

Anya had Interview on 05 May 2007

recieved 221g for a Turkish Police Certificate

finally afer waiting 8 weeks Anya traveled to Ankra, Turkey to get the Cert in person ( this is also another topic issue)

delivered Turkish Police Cert Tues 30 June

pick-up Passport / VISA 02 July

BUT our NAO2 expired on 25 June 2009

When I was in Tashkent back in May 09 I asked the US Embassy " in person " at American Services and they informed me that they would re-validate stamp the I-797 when Anya brought the Turkish Police Cert and / also later on we ( Anya ) e-mailed them the same question and they informed her the same VIA e-mail

When she Picked-up her Passport Today with the VISA she brought the ORIGINAL NAO2 with her for the Embassy to re-validate stamp and she was told (by a local not an American Consul) " that she is a trouble maker " and that " the re-validated NAO2 was in the "Do Not Open Document PACKET " " Anya tried showing the " assistant " the Origian NAO2 and the e-mail from the Embassy saying they would re-validate it at this time but again this " assistan " told her " she has made her own problems and that the this Assistance and Consul told ME and Her the re-validated NAO2 would be in the PACKET and that she could thro away the ORIGINAL NAO2 "

this is not what we were told.... !!!!

Can anyone shed some light on this Issue... I am concerned because I think we need this for the AOS filing to come ...

Do we need to have the Local Embassy RE-Validate the NAO2 for the AOS and other filing later on ?

:help:

Can Anyone advise if this is how the Embassies address this situation.

Thanks,

Charles

The CO has the power the revalidate the NO2 for 4 additional months, but don't worry about that if she has the visa printed in the passport. NO2 is a paper, that she doesn't need for travelling. What is really important is the visa printed in the passport and the I-94 she is going to receive when she travels to your country.

The NOA2 is of no further use. The visa and the I-94 are all that will be required for AOS.

Wait! Is that true? What about this?

http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-aos.html#6.2

There are a LOT of documents listed there aside from the I-94 and visa, including the NOA2.

Charles, she has the visa so there's no point in having the NOA2 re-validated. But I WOULD keep it for the AOS filing.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Thanks to ALL the above !

I understand now that the NAO2 is not necessary for the AOS process but needs to be in the information submitted. The important documents are the K1-VISA in her Passport and the I-94 that she will recieve unpon entry into the USA.

? I just dont know why the Embassy Staff told Us we needed to get that NAO2 re-validated ?:angry:

Make Us crazy...

Well We can be HAPPY again that she has the K1-VISA in her Passport !!!

Thanks Again !

1. She has her visa and entry packet with the magic popcorn or whatever they put in there, so relax

2. You will need a copy of the NOA2 to attach to your AOS package, but you do not need the original. Presumeably you have a copy somewhere because you would never send an original to anyone without making a copy, of course.

The NOA2 is of no further use. The visa and the I-94 are all that will be required for AOS.

You are correct Jim. A copy of the NOA2 is needed for the AOS process, but you do not need the original. Absolute worst case, you file an I90 and get a duplicate original. You are good to go! Post your consulate experience in the consulate reviews when you get the chance
