How many of you traveled immediately home after recieving your green card? Anton has been away from Alberta for 9 months. He's afraid he may loose his residency in Canada if he doesn't return soon, plus he wants to see his father who is needing some help to get ready for winter on the farm...

Is your husband a permanent resident of Canada, or a Canadian citizen? I ask because under "country" you put Austria/Canada.

If he is not a Canadian citizen but a PR, he has to be in Canada for at least 6 months every year. He can file for a Returning Resident Permit (Canada) which will allow him to stay outside of Canada for over 6 months.

That's what I was thinking about when I made my earlier post, thanks for bringing that up. This is a major thing for Anton to look into, since it looks like he will be spending considerable time in both countries (from what moondancer has said).

Anton is a landed immigrant in 1993 to Alberta, Canada from Austria. He lived in Alberta until we started this Immigration to US... I guess he has it all under control, according to him he needed to be back in Alberta by Jan 07, before he lost his benefits up there, so we shall see... Anton has to do thing's his way anyway no matter what I am worried about and it usaully works it's way out, and I guess once he gets back up there he can figure it all out...

thanks for the info..
