Ok so I have a question regarding my I-485 and I-765. Feel free to move this topic to a more appropriate section.

I filed my I-485 and I-765 in late may early june of last year 2008.

I received my EAD in the middle of august.

My I-485 is still pending and hasn't been approved yet.

On august 11, 2009 my EAD will expire and I want to apply for a renewal.

I have a question about that.

Will I have to pay the $340 I think it is for the renewal even though it isn't my fault that they are taking forever for my I-485?

I don't have the money for it and I hope that I would be apply to just reapply for free.

Thank you.

There is no renewal fee if you applied for the original EAD along with your AOS. You can e-file the application and you need to include your I-485 receipt number.

Is there any reason your AOS is taking so long? I would be chasing that up.

It seems to be the normal these days. As I am in the same boat as the original poster. And I have chased this up, and have gotten no where. I have just had to put in for a renewal myself, and am hoping it goes through! My case is in the Philly office, not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I am hoping that they get there butts in gear and approve it soon!

That long of a wait doesn't seem normal to me at all. I guess it depends on your circumstances. If you don't know specifically why it's taking so long, you should be checking in with them to see. Make an infopass appointment. Unless there is more to the story that we don't know. ;)

Like I said... I have made info pass appointments, several in fact and got NOTHING accomplished. I have called the service center, SEVERAL times and got NOTHING accomplished. I have put in SEVERAL service requests and got NOTHING accomplished. Its not normal, but I have come to the relization that nothing is going to happen anytime soon, and no matter how many times I go to the office for info pass appointments, no matter how many times I call the service desk, and No matter how many times I have stomped my feet, NOTHING is going to change the fact that the USCIS office in Philly is going to take there sweet time in proccessing the applications. I have been honest with you all on whats going on, and no i have nothing to hide. Check my time line!!

AOS filed in late May of last year and still pending? Das ist nicht normal, nein!
Well, let me back up and say that there were some minor road blocks that poped up. I had my interview in late november but they need more evidence and stuff like that. It wasn't neccesarily my fault but it also wasn't their fault either so I am not blaming USCIS at all for taking so long.

As for the original question, everything is finally resolved. Today I received e-mail notification that my i-485 has been approved and that my card should arrive in the mail in 30 days or less. I am a very happy person now and don't have to worry about losing employment after august 11.

Congratulations :) When I had my interview, it took them a year to send the green card. They didn't even ask for additional evidence. We were clueless. We made an infopass appointment too but they just told us that they are still looking at it. So I renewed my EAD because of that.

I'm glad you are approved before you renew your EAD
