Working on the DS-156 form for our K3 visa. Question 36 asks if anyone has filed an immigrant visa petition on your behalf. So ... since the K3 is an extension of the CR1, does that mean that we don't count the CR1? Or since the K3 is processed separately from the CR1, do we indeed need to note that there is "another" immigrant petition floating around out there? I'm leaning towards the latter, but wanted to get some verification. Thanks folks. ttyl,

mich

PS - why doesn't the search turn up anything for DS-156 ? I always get no results. I have to go to yahoo! and put in "DS-156 site:visajourney.com" which gives me strange results, but still results.

Let me show you how to get your tax returns the easy way

aussiewench's thread for kicking butt in the NVC ('cause i'm too lazy to keep looking it up - haha)

14 Jul 2006 - DS-230 Package Received by USC

We stopped pursuit of CR-1 to pursue K3/AOS. For us, both required the same document, we could only have one valid copy, and the K3 was moving faster.

See profile for the details up to and in between the events listed here.

I didn't count the CR1 as another visa petition. It really isn't its a package deal of I-129F and I-130--so its sort of two visas in one, but not two seperate visas--although it really is. But that's what the government makes a mess out of everything.

Note both my K3 and CR1 arrived at the embassy at the same time--so they kind of knew they were together.

I would think the question is answered YES... If there has been any IV petition submitted (ie: I-130). [ Unless they are really asking if a DS-230 has ever been submitted, which is the "application for IV and Alien registration". ]

The I-129F and I-130 are each a petition; although they can only result in one visa issued (either a K3 or CR1/IR1).

Curious to hear other K3s responses...

mich,

My wife answered this question 'yes'. (But neglected to answer the 'if yes, who?' part.)
