My fiancee and I are struggling to make decision as to what is better for us. We are debating getting married in Peru and getting a cr-1, or getting K-1 and getting married. How long is the post visa process running for K-1 's now? Ie getting green card. At which point is she considered a resident? I know that there are a lot of postings I can search for this info, but I know it changes all th etime so I am interested in the latest info. Thanx very much

K-1 is a fiancee non immigrant visa. You get the visa, come over, get married within 90 days and then you apply to adjust status for a greencard.

CR-1 is a spousal immigrant visa. You go to Pery, get married; and once the visa is issued and she comes over, she is a permanent resident (for two years; then she removed conditions).

Best option, if you can afforsd the trip to get married; is a CR-1. Hands down. And the time lines are about the same nowadays.
