Citizenship for a Sibling?

Hey Everyone,

So I am currently applying for citizenship for myself. I am applying under the 5 year rule. I was wondering, my younger sister, age 16, is still a permanent resident. My mom is not planning on applying for citizenship any time soon as she has complications with her application.

Has anyone heard of any precedent that would allow me to apply on her behalf once I am a citizen?

I figure it's probably a stretch, but I thought I would ask.

Cheers

How long has your sistes been a PR? She can also apply under the 5 year rule

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

She's been a PR since 2001, but she's 16, and from what I see on the application, you need to be 18 to apply on your own. It would be better for her if she was a citizen before 18 because she will be in college eventually and I would like her to be eligible for scholarships that are tied to citizens only.

Yeah but you as her brother can not apply on her behalf, has to be Mom or when she is 18. That really stinks though

Ahh yeah, I figured that was going to be the answer. It is disappointing to hear. *sigh*

Anyone else have any insight?
