Medical for I-485

Hi

Can anybody help?

I am filing I-485 does my husband have to have the medical BEFORE I file? Or can he have it later and we send it in? Or will that cause a delay?

I was unclear of when to have the medical so I did not send it in when I did the 485. We got an RFE (which does stop processing) but we went the next day, got the medical and had it sent off and everything resumed processing very quickly.

I am sure it is best to do it before you send it in.

I had mine before and sent the sealed envelope I received from the doctor in my I-485 package. Everything went smoothly and no RFE:s.

Its initial evidence, so unless you want a RFE in your mail, only to have your case suspended un-necessarily, have the medical taken before you file. It won't take more than 2-3 days once you find the right Civil surgeon. Make sure you bargain with the doctor. This is the money they pocket, so you should definitely shop around for a good deal. I found one who did the full medical with all the shots for $160. There was one who was asking for $350. Just wanted to give you a range.

I agree. Get the medical before you submit your I-485.

You got a pretty good deal saspak, the cheapest i found was for $300. I tried asking for an extra copy of I-693 before my interview, they were charging an additional $50.
