We are 2 weeks away from a 6 month wait for our NOA2. I called CSC to get a status update, they sent me a letter stating our case requires additional processing and to wait an ADDITIONAL 6 months from the date of this letter before calling again. This is insane! They also told my Congressman who did an inquiry that I am not yet at the 6 month point and therefore can't get a status update until then. I have lost all patience with this process at this point, especially when I see NOA2 coming out of USCIS for couples with an NOA1 only a couple months prior. Just venting...

The touches you reported from the past week seem to corroborate the letter sent i.e. the petition has been pulled for AP. It may not necessarily take six more months. However, it could take even longer. While I can appreciate and respect your frustration at the situation it shall not serve anyone, including your fiancée and yourself.

Optimism, patience, and acceptance would all serve you to get through this snag as well as put you in a frame of mind to best deal with whatever comes up next. From start to finish (filing to arrival) our visa journey shall take us nine months, but we had spent over two years seperated prior. When I read of couples having met only a matter months before filing, I realize how rare it is for two people who had lived together for nearly two years to maintain a long term (2 years +) long distance (opposite sides of the globe) relationship.

I certainly understand the feelings of impatience, frustration, and desire to be together; Not a day has passed that I haven't wished my fiancée could be with me now. However, we've been able to continue the relationship for over three years long-distance. If we can do that, so could anyone else if they're willing.

Great post. Sharing your experience certainly should help others. :) I hope you guys are reunited very soon. It is rare to see a couple last that long being seperated and stay strong and together. My husband and I were seperated for 16 months and I beleive it made us a stronger couple.

To the OP

As stated, AP could be less or more than 6 months. Hopefully its less for you guys.

My congressman's office was able to get updates for us before we were past the posted processing times, Im suprised they just shot yours down like that. Im sorry.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I noticed a couple of mentions regarding getting your Congressman involved. Can someone tell me just how that works? Do you just write them a letter explaining your circumstances, or do you have to "know" them? Thanks.

Go to your Senator's website (Google can help you) & there is usually some sort of link for assistance with other government agencies. They'll usually have a form for you to fill out and fax/mail to them. I filled out the form & faxed it, then called to verify that they received it.
