In the event that an insufficient number of characters are available to spell out Turkmenistan, for example, is the abbreviation "Turkmen." likely to be an issue on line 3a of I-129F?

Are there any opinions about the use of VSC to denote the Vermont Service Center? One would think that our civil servants would recognize their own acronyms but nothing would surprise me.

If you need more room, use a continuation sheet. (annotated with the form number, question, and the "answer".

Abbreviations on forms are never a good idea, IMO. :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

In some cases you can use the international abbreviation for the country (UA for Ukraine, for example) Such as listing addresses on the G-325a, do NOT make up your own, such as "turkmen".

It is best not to use them on the I-129 and attach a sheet as Bobby suggests, or fill that part of the form in by hand, as long as it is legible.

Don't write outside of the box provided, I presume.

You should color within the lines. :) If it does not fit, write in that box "see attached" and attach a separate sheet. Make sure eac is labeled with your name as Petitioner, your fiancees name as beneficiary and which question it is an answer to. make it very clear who's petition the attachment belongs to and what question you are answering. Can you put more than one answer on a sheet. Yes, I suppose. My reaction would be to say make a separate sheet for each naswer, but maybe better to have less attachments (to get lost)

If I was a coloring-between-the-lines-kinda guy, I wouldn't have an international relationship, would I?

I worked out the problem, though. I created a Word document and played with the location and the font size of the oversized information until everything fit perfectly. Then I printed it on the otherwise filled I-129F form. As you wrote, fewer attachments to lose...
