Salons I have less of a problem with having kids in there -- especially if they are kid-friendly. Spas really need to be oases of calm, which predicates a no-kid policy IMO. However, I have been to places where they have a creche for kids while mom is off getting pampered which seems to be a good compromise.

my spa will make you reschedule your appt if you show up with a kid. it actually says that on their website and when they email you the day before to remind you of your appt.

My work needs that policy clearly stated somewhere on their forms for orientation. We just kicked someone out of the session for having a noisy 11-12 month old. There are some places kids just don't need to be.

Sigh. That's what I don't understand -- if it is really clear that a situation is adults-only, why do some parents insist that somehow the rules don't apply to them? I'm not asking parents to put their whole lives on hold, but if you want to do something that is clearly for adults, why not get a sitter?

I have two good friends back East with kids -- one is almost TOO careful about not showing up with her children, so we never get to see them. The other has to bring her 2-year-old with her EVERYWHERE, including cocktail parties and once a bar. She thought it was really cute when her little one was trying to drink a bottle of Beck's. FAIL.

I think it is worded something like "please make arrangements for someone to watch your children as we do not have childcare services at our facility. if you arrive with children we will kindly ask you to reschedule your appt. we want to provide a calm and relaxing environment for all our clients."

I don't know how you can enjoy yourself in an adults only environment with a kid you have to constantly keep entertained. What's the point?

I can't enjoy myself unless I'm in kid watching/playing mode. Just the other day I was trying to have a serious phone conversation and my little cousin was running around, jumping on me, screaming, etc. The person I was talking to just said "Amber I can't talk to you like this, I gotta go". Luckily when the kids I'm around are driving me nuts I just say "hey you're driving me nuts!" My aunts and uncles don't care.

but getting special treatment because you can't keep your thighs shut or afford condoms is another. Jeebus.

It's true. All people who have babies are either sluts, or poor people. OMG. Or poor sluts.

Now my secret is out.

No wonder you are so mad...you should try sex every now and then. It's a great release for anger toward other people.
