i made a lot of videos of Ben, so cute, every way possible, crying, taking a bath, on his swing, smiling, hiccuping, sneezing, sucking his finger, smiling while sleeping, cooing, getting changed, etc etc. i just didn't do a poop change video lol i think i'll post them all here.

My mom was a SAHM and I don't think I missed out on anything. She was amazing and even though I lost her when I was young, I can still remember what a dedicated, loving mother she was I will balance my career and being a mother, and if I'm half as good a mom as she was, I will consider myself a success

About being anything but mothers, I think its the person's choice, much like being all about your career. Feminism should be about choice and if a woman chooses to be a stay home mom, then I think that's great. Our moms did it and they were not uni-dimensional- they took care of us, husband and house with great pride. "Missing out" on a career can be just as controversial as "missing out" on having children, but if its not the thing for you and you make the decision from a point of personal freedom, then good for you

Very well said Caro. I chose to be a SAHM for the time being. I'm not gonna be doing this forever. Heck no, I want to work someday again. First I said I'm staying home 6 years, then I said 4 years and now I"m saying maybe another 6 months and then I'll be done with it. I feel like there's so much more to life than being a SAHM and work backstage for the rest of my life. I'm 27, I didn't go to school for nothing. SAHMing is just another chapter and when that one closes, another one will open up for me and I'm sure a lot of SAHMs around here. Just because you are a stay at home mom doesn't mean you're stupid or even producing trailor trash. Not at all. I have chosen not to work for now because I don't want another person telling me that my son learned to crawl today or that my daughter learned to clap her hands today. I rather be there and see her learn it for myself. Might be stupid, I know but that's just me. Luckily, we are in a good position financially for me to stay home right now.

And that is great! generations ago, you had to get married and have children or you were nothing. Did we fight the feminism battle just to change that to "have a degree and a career or you are nothing"? No! is one option more worthy than the other? No! Family is the base of society, and a mother that chooses to stay at home and build a strong family life with solid values makes an invaluable contribution to society, just as worthy as any professional

Women have been letting others define who they should be for much too long, we must break away from those chains and be who we want to be! Mothers, professionals, both...We have the freedom to choose how to live our lives

Sure -- after you finish inculcating the masses, and I finish trampling them under my feet, we can go to the nail spa. You really should see my local one: they bathe your feet in hammered brass bowls and while you relax in cushioned rattan recliners and new agey music plays. Tis the best.

I never realized I could tolerate whalesong and Enya until it was the soundtrack to having your arms and legs massaged by women who have absolutely no interest in speaking to you except to ask if you are still comfortable (yes, I am). They don't care if you have kids or not, they just get those gamma waves going in your head. Bliss bliss bliss.
