OK, what's the sh1ttiest name anyone you know personally has named their kid?

Godestablishedme

Siouxsie (I love Siouxsie and The Banshees, but come on....)

and the prize winner was a girl who went to high school with my roomate in university. Her mother when she went to sign the birth certificate looked at the wrong box and said "oh, they already named my baby" and was ok with it. The poor girls name was Female (pronounced with a long E at the end)

You know Sister Joyce, I'd like to also say one thing - Nelly is a fvcking idiot for having a kid at 41. Yeah, I said it. I went there. You know why??? Cuz pregnancy is a beyotch and it totally fvcks up your body. And I'm not talking about weight - sheesh weight is easy. Plus, if Nelly is 41 her age can totally ** up her kid. I was 34 when I got pregnant and you would have thought I committed a crime with the way the doctors were circling me about this pregnancy. But, all of a sudden I wised up real quick - pregnancy isn't just some easy peasy, every woman does it, it's the most natural thing in the world bullsh!t - it's a truly medical situation, and I don't think alot of people realize that. If your health isn't stellar, you could be utterly and completely farked and your kid too. Pregnancy can kill you and that is the truth. It is only because we have decent medical care that women and their babies might have a fighting chance at living. That is why I think if you're wanting a kid have one - but try to do it at a reasonable age (before 38/39), if you don't, well then do everything you can not to get knocked up.

Just my two cents, sorry if I offended anyone.

I understand that you are approaching this from a rather subjective point of view regarding your personal experiences, but 41 is nowadays not a bad age to have children. Yes, I'm sure it takes longer for the body to bounce back and there are risks, but I wouldn't go as far as calling a woman a f-ing idiot for deciding to have a baby at 41. Every person is different and lets not judge people for the decisions they make whether they want kids or not.

I don't care if you guys want kids or not, but don't call me a breeder, or uneducated because I chose to have children. Yes I can see how a screaming kid could get annoying on a flight or at a movie theatre, but that is not a reason to judge other people with children who are sometimes better at controlling their 5 kids then some parent who is absolutely incapable of handling one.

Yes life changes after having a baby but it's not over. It goes on in a different direction. And yes, hate me, but I experience it as happier and more meaningful- and my son was unplanned. We still go out and on vacations, it is just a matter of preparation.

eta: the only thing i find weird is when a perfectly fertile couple decides to have children via surrogate. I can only imagine the inconvenience of having to get up at night to feed baby if being pregnant is already too much to handle.

If you are not ready to make changes to your life after having a child, then don't have the child. You cannot live your bachelor life after them anymore. If you rather hang out with adults and want to pursue a carreer, don't have a child...it's that easy. You will have to adjust. So, I'm glad most of the people here don't want to have children as they are probably not willing to make changes (and I'm not being pushy or anything. I totally understand..if you don't want kids, you just don't want them, that is completely fine with me).

As for poop. It doesn't smell good, neither does mine, I'm telling you. I'm sure lots of guys in the forum here have shared their poop smells with their SOs at some point and were rather proud of it (I see you grinning there behind your monitor  ). I don't ever stick my nose in a diaper why would I. Moms talk about poo in the beginning because you can see whether baby is fine or not...later on, it's not really a subject anymore.

AS for bringing the kids along to everything...maybe the who invites should clearly state not to bring children. Maybe it's just miscommunication or maybe the friend doesn't have money to pay for a sitter. Maybe she is just not ready to leave her child alone for a long period of time. Why so judgemental about it?

I will give a stab at answering as some of it is from my prior post.

@ poop. I don't like the smell of it from my kids or from others. I have a weak stomach and smells set me off...end of story and when others make vomiting noises whether real or in jest, I get a bit "vomity" myself.

@ changes. I have a career...I enjoy it, will continue to pursue my career further and my edu-ma-cation plus I'm a darn good mom (if i don't say so myself :P). Ask my kids...wait...when they can talk :P My point was to those that are negative on kids....my life is not all about my kids and I dont think it has to be (nor do I feel guilty about it)...just as I don't agree that ones life should be all about their partner, or all about their career, etc. Our lives should be rich with many things not one. As for changes, heck yeah, you have to make them.

@ the friend situation...we are super clear with invites but I also don't want to stop them from coming over we really enjoy their company. We don't have parties each and every weekend but once a month for a night would be nice, right? I don't think that is a lot to ask. They(she) are just not ready as you said but its affecting their marriage and their friendships...plus the sitter thing is covered that is not the issue. The wife is having the hard time detaching and feels guilty about leaving her child alone even if for an evening. Last time a group of us spoke about taking a 2 day vacation to Vegas just couples and her husband was jumping up and down w/ excitement as they have not had a night alone since their daughter was born 1 year ago. After it was discussed, she later said, maybe my MIL can just come and she can stay with us in the hotel room and watch her when we go out....ummm, ok...:lol: Needless to say, we will be planning the disney cruise with them instead :D JK ;)

As for the shopping thing...I just want some girl time, what's wrong w/ that? I don't think kids make you give up adult time/girl time, etc all together, do they? I only asked for a few hours, one time without babies. I think a spa or salon is just not the place for a 1 year old but hey, that's just me. :P

@Narwal: Kudos to you for pursuing a carreer  . I have been home for about three years now and am itching to finally go back to work. I can't wait.

Unfortunately, some people have children because they seem like a requirement. They have the baby, then get a nanny and see their kid about 20 Minutes a day...it just doesn't seem right to me. My former hostmum was vice president of a big company. She was gone 40 weeks of the year. Where is the sense in having a kid when you are never home and cannot adjust your life according to your child's needs? She was getting older, heard her clock ticking and had a baby real quick but probably wasn't even ready for one and not willing to give up her former life for it. I feel sorry for the kid who has had 7 nannies in the first 7 years of his life and no mother whatsoever.

I have one from Mexico:

When babies are born in little towns, peepz usually look up in the calendar to see which "Saint" is the one for the day. So this kid was born on November 20. That day, the calendar said: "Aniv. de la Rev." because that's the anniversary of the revolution. Well..... the poor child was names Anivdelarev. And no, I am not kidding.
