I feel bad for my mom sometimes, she would love to be a Grandmother but she isn't getting any out of me and my sister.

I remember growing up some of my girlfriends talking about how they couldn't wait to have kids- sure enough they are all mothers now. I just never had that desire- then or now.

That's pretty old. 2000 data has it 30% of same-sex couples have own children under 18 living with them.

http://www.gaydemographics.org/USA/PUMS/nationalintro.htm

Those numbers are way off and look at your biased source. 20% of gay couples are raising kids under the age of 18.

http://www.law.ucla.edu/williamsinstitute/...nsusSnapshot.pd

That number is sure to climb with the Gayby Boom.

Very insignificant as the percent of same sex households is less than 1% of all households except in DC. same source

all this being said, aren't people having less children in the States nowadays? didn't we go from 2.5 kids to 1.75 or something?

It's a strange thing. I feel like something of a poseur in this thread because I haven't completely dismissed the possibility of having a kid. The older I get (I'll be 36 in a week, yikes), the more people seem to feel free to ask me if I want kids and make references to ticking clocks. #### off! Like it's any of their goddamn bizness. I think a lot of people just get irrational on the subject and don't seem to think there's anything inappropriate in asking about and/or commenting on someone's very personal decision or situation. And it seems that everyone knows someone whose situation seems similar to yours: "Well, my friend Nelly had her first at 41! And she couldn't be happier! And she used to say she never wanted kids and look at her now!" Well, that's great for Nelly. I ain't Nelly. #### Nelly.

my sister & her husband didn't want kids. they always knew they didn't want kids. she is a real tough-as-nails broad, and when people used to ask her about children, she would just say real deadpan and unwavering: "No, we don't want children." and usually that shut folks up.

it really is none of anyone's business anyway.

I completely understand the position of people who never want to have any at all.

I like this thread :P Kids are not for everyone. I get that and I respect those that choose not to reproduce. (F)

I was in the "I’m NEVER ever having kids" crew. My mother saved two notes from me as a teenager where I wrote a promise notes to my parents. I will pay you 100 dollars if I ever get married and I added EWWW to that note. The other note said: I will pay you 500 dollars if I ever have stinky kids! Eww was added at the end as well. (As you can see, I have two and that one was a SHOCKER when they said twins..#######?!? I thought one will kill me but two...God's little joke on me for saying never! :P) When we told my family everyone was in shock I was pregnant...I remember my father saying, "I never knew you wanted to have children? Don't you owe me money or something?" CUTE ONE DAD!

Obviously I'm not a child hater (see siggy  )...I love my kids with all my heart and they are a blessing to me. They make me laugh my azz off and truly have been a fun addition to our lives... BUT I know how annoying they can be or others can be in public. I would NEVER venture out to a non-family restaurant with them as they would disturb me and others! :P I am careful about places I take them and respectful of others when we travel (typically red eye flights so they are sound asleep). I still get annoyed when people have rude obnoxiously loud children and do nothing about it. I want to kick the parents’ azzzes not that kids though. At least try to calm your crazy clan :bonk:

Just yesterday I was talking to my gf at work and we were discussing the fact that we love our careers and would not give them up to be stay at home moms. I feel like I have some "me" time when I'm at work and I can't imagine being a stay at home mom (no offense to those that are). We just think that having children has been great for us but that the same time, they do not define who we are completely. I'm not just a Mom...I'm a professional, I'm a wife, I'm a woman who wants and needs adult time too!

One of my biggest pet peeves....people who can't go anywhere without their kids!!! We have a few friends like this. :( I hate it. I WANT AND NEED adult time! I have tried hard to convince one couple they need "time off" because they just take their daughter everywhere w/ us. I will have a sitter for the twins and want to have a nice dinner party w/ friends or bbq to hang out...adult talk, adult time...not kid time. They can't part from her. It's very annoying to me. Come on ... do they really eat, breath, sleep baby?? Their child is almost the same age as the twins and still sleeping in their room in a crib. I just don't get it... I have seriously stopped asking the mom to come shopping w/ me on weekends or other places because I know her daughter will be with us all day long. Can't she shop without a baby once in a while? (I'm not asking always...just one time!!):blink:

@ diaper comments: I still gag and want to vomit when I have to change them. Being a Mom did NOT change that for me! :P I hate diapers!!

@ vomiting/sick kids. I want to vomit when they are sick too :P I have the weakest stomach. Again, Mommyhood did not change that for me.

"Oh when its your own child, things just change...you can do anything for them...." BULL FOOKING HOCKEY STICKS :P

Yet, they probably think "awww poor thing - she probably can't have kids"
