Hello,

My wife came here on a B1(visitors visa) and after 4 months we got married. I am applying for I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765 together and have sent my paperwork in and got rejected twice for the following reasons:

Check amount incorrect --- I sent a check for $1010 as I have read on here. Do I need to sent seperate checks? fingerprint fees seperated?

Under the I 765(Employment Authorization) form , what numbers or code do I need to put in the #16 ?

Also, in this form(I 765) I prepared this form and sign it for my wife on the line( Signature of person preparing form, if other than above) She didn't sign it. Can she just go ahead and sign it above where I signed ,as the person preparing this form or do I need to redo this form and only she signs at the bottom?

The paperwork was sent to Chicago 60680-4120

Thank you for your time

1. Checks should be for I-130 - $355.00 AOS - $1010.00

2. Code C9

3. Your wife MUST sign the forms herself. regardles of who completes them.

Thanks Tay Rivers

OK ---- I found the info page where I need to send 2 seperate checks for $355 and $1010. Can I address the checks to USCIS or Dept of Homeland Security?

Can I have my wife sign the same I 765 above where I signed as "person preparing this form" or do I need to re due the form with only her signature?

They must be made payable to Department of Homeland Security. You need 2 checks 1 for $355.00 and 1 for $1010.00

You would be better to do the form again. The part "person preparing this form" is for lawyers or immigration workes, you as a spouse do not need to complete that part.

Agreed.

I prepared the forms for my husband's (it was easier since I did all the K-1 paperwork myself), but HE signed them.

Just have your wife sign and leave that "person preparing form" blank. As TayRivers said, that is for lawyers or like a "professional" who is helping you prepare the papers

Many of your questions can be answered by reading the instruction to the forms.

You should not be signing any of the forms as "the person who prepared" the forms. That is for a paid preparer. You should fill out the forms and your wife should sign them as if she completed them herself.

if you prepared the papers and you filled out the application then you MUST sign the papers also where its says "signature of person preparing the form" and also your wife would HAVE to sign it too.....

trust me on this, I did the same thing and they send it back to me stating that be both must sign it if I prepared the application for my husband.

its not only for professionals to sign, its for everyone who prepared the application, who filled it out.... if your grandma would do it then she would have to sign it.... but the applicant ALWAYS needs to sign it to agree that everything on that application is true!

And how the heck did they figure out that it was you that prepared them!? I did all the forms, and i singed the ones i needed to sing and just had my husband sing the ones that he needed to sing, there is no way USCIS could know which one of you filled them out.

Sorry but I have to disagree, I completed all the paperwork for my wife from K1, AOS, Removal of Conditions and Citizenship. Never once did I complete that part and I have not ever had any of the paperwork rejected.

My wife is currently filling for her parents and again she has completed the paperwork and her parents have signed them but she has not completed that part either. None of that paperwork has been rejected.
