I dont think i really understand your question. are you asking something about the age difference and if that impacts your interview at the embassy?

or whether it matters when the case arrives at the embassy and how old you are then?

I think the question is pretty plain. Would the consol at the US Embassy take the age difference as a factor. After reading many American Chinese sites I would think.............. NO, if you are a rich American. Most of those men are older, rich, and want much younger Chinese wives. They get them. They buy them essentially.

Did you buy your Chinese wife? Another generalization from an expert.

Age is just a number. It does not impact the visa.

It shouldn't, but unfortunately it all too often does.

Letz see some statistics to back your claim, plz. Nowhere in USCIS petition/visa requirements does it mention age as a exclusionary factor in petitioning a person of majority age. :whistle:

Just because it's not written DOESN'T mean that age discrimination DOESN'T happen! Really are you that ignorant?? It's NOT written anywhere to question more intensely people from Muslim countries but it's a REALITY!!

To OP definitely have EVERYTHING in order and ready because if you get someone who is discriminitory for an interviewing officer they will nit pick until they can find something to deny you on. I have heard of African's being denied because they didn't know how many miles it was from their wives house to their church. Just know every piece of information you possibly can about the USC.

Heck I am 87 and my wife turned 18 the day before we married and we had no issue. Heck she even had a baby by me, got to love viagra! Age doesn't matter at all.

Btw it's not true, our age difference that is.

This is so nasty. Is it right that your child be raised without a father? You are 87 and she is 18? Ok let's tell the truth you always had a feddish for little girls, and you know darn well that no American 18yr old girl would have wanted you because if you had millions of dollars you would have gotten your blond hair blue eye dream girl.

Does it really matter when it come to interview at USEM? Would the consol give you a hardtime about it?

HELPPPP!!!!!!!

Is it really that bad where you live that you actually want somebody that old? Why would you throw your life away like this. If you didn't file a petition yet I would wait until your dream man comes along. I mean seriously don't do this to yourself. I could not imagine some 23yr old marrying my Pop Pop ILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NASTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

Just pointing to the bolded part of his post, maybe you missed it.

To the OP,

you will def have more to prove to the CO in comparison to someone who is close to the age of their husband/wife. As others have said. Get ready for the tough questions that you might get during the interview and prepare prepare prepare!

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Hate to be the bearer of negativity but in theory yes age is just a number but it will always be questionable whether you're applying for a visa or you happen to fall in love with older man/woman or for whatever reason. The society will always scorn on that and tend to wonder what forces of nature that drive 2 people with wide age gap to want to be together. Wouldn't you blink an eye if you have an 18 year old daughter who happens to fall in love with your next door neighbor who is 50 years old? I would and even if the man is a decent man, good natured, I will still say "What the heck?".

To the OP;

You should expect to have additional scrutiny surrounding your case. From the USCIS Adjudicators' Field Manual:

http://www.uscis.gov/propub/ProPubVAP.jsp?...8ce159d286150e2 Go to the amendments at the bottom and choose chapter 21.3. Then scroll halfway thru the pages.

"Some indications that a marriage may have been contracted solely for immigration benefits include:

• Large disparity of age;

• Inability of petitioner and beneficiary to speak each other's language;

• Vast difference in cultural and ethnic background;

• Family and/or friends unaware of the marriage;

• Marriage arranged by a third party;

• Marriage contracted immediately following the beneficiary's apprehension or receipt of notification to depart the United States;

• Discrepancies in statements on questions for which a husband and wife should have common knowledge;

• No cohabitation since marriage;

• Beneficiary is a friend of the family;

• Petitioner has filed previous petitions in behalf of aliens, especially prior alien spouses"

It is not impossible, but expect the CO to ask questions specifically directed at the age difference.

This is a very heated, controversial topic that often ends up in a locked thread. As others have said a couple with a large age disparity will be scrutinized more than a couple without one... you may believe this is age discrimination but it's reality. With that being said many couples with significant age differences have been successful in getting a visa, so it's absolutely feasible.

That's gross...just gross. I mean I know this happens all the time, but it makes me sick how many cases like this clog up the system for the rest of us.

On a personal level I don't agree with it either, but my opinion + your opinion + $4 gets us a Grande Mocha at Starbucks.
