Moving "household effects" means what?

Now that our K1 paperwork is approved (yay!), I'm thinking more about what I want to ship across the border when I finally move. Most of what I'm shipping is pretty standard (bed, furniture, computer, books, clothing, etc...) but I also have a fairly large number of collectibles (sports cards, comics etc...) and was wondering if these might cause any problems.

Obviously the cards pack up well so they will all fit in a box or two, but (if I remember correctly) I have about 4000 comics in my collection, which means about thirty-plus small boxes worth. I don't know if value plays a role, but they aren't worth a whole lot individually...just enmasse since they'd average a couple dollars each.

Are there any Canadians out there who have shipped a large comic collection like this before? Should I be concerned at all or just go for it?

Thanks!

How are you going to cross? If you're driving across and have these things in boxes, I'd just mark the outside of the box with a number and have a list of things that the box contains. Not specifics, more like one box...comics, or just paperwork, another box, computer, another box kitchen items...etc. With that many boxes, I'm thinking you're driving your things across, which I don't think is going to be an issue at all.

I agree with Carla, shouldn't be an issue, as long as they are for your personal use - ie: you are not importing 4000 comic books just to sell.
