Agree? Abide by it of course. I do not have enough information to agree or disagree but that the decision was a 4/5 split surely tells us that there is still contention. I think that's naturally given the nature of this type of testing and the nature of people's decisions to sue.

For what it's worth, I think the city originally made a good call, it's very expensive for a city to be at the wrong end of a discrimination law suit.

What is discriminatory about it? You either pass a test or you do not. Especially if a multiple choice test is used, where there is zero chance of interpretation errors or bias.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

So you oppose affirmative action? I support it, even though my race isn't benefited by it in college admissions, because it pisses off the people I hate.

Some people supported those inequalities. They used to be Dixie Dems, now they're the GOP's southern base.

That's where the most vociferous opposition to AA comes from. Their precious Klan didn't work out so now they wreak their terrorism from within. I gotta give it to 'em, it's smart.

That is strange considering the sheer number of black folk that live in the south.

Before I was admitted into the University, it had an Affirmative Action policy. The policy states that for a minority to enter into the University, they must have completed a diploma from a high school, and they must also have received satisfactory results on their SATs, and the entrance exam.

Well, to get into the college of engineering is not simply apply and get admitted. It's based on the entrance exam, and high school transcript. They don't admit anyone out of sight.

I think AA just has a minimum quota for the school to meet, and must meet. Doesn't necessarily lowering the standards. It's a way to protect to minority of not having representation in the university.

Eventhough my school exceeded the quota, the AA is kinda ignored. Not talked about.

I was in our community pool yesterday and noticed how there were more mixed-race families than not. A huge departure from how that pool looked in 2003, when I bought my place. Back then it was largely white seniors. Today, very mixed and tons of children.

Are you not 100% Indian? Is your wife not from India? I see exactly how "mixed" you are.

Or if she were a beneficiary of affirmative action policies... oh wait, she is!

You're joking right? So she only got in because of AA.

That is what kills me about liberals. Their double standards are a joke. At least the KKK member is uneducated, so he has a legitimate excuse for his ignorance. What excuse does a BA, MA, PhD holding liberal have to be so utterly stupid?

They should have undertaken a math class instead of Liberal arts. Maybe then they would have learned the actual (non bastardized) definition of equal.

Sotomayor is as qualified as Sarah Palin. Sorry guys. Looks like I'm against her "thinking" on affirmative action.

Do the math Bohr. Sotomeyer was not the Judge deciding the original case. She was one of 13 judges on the State appeal.

That Appeals Court ruled 7-6 in favor of upholding the original Courts decision. Sotomayer was with the majority.

The Supreme's came out in favor of over ruling the original decision and the State Appeals court by a 5-4 margin.

22 total appeals Judges came out split 11 to 11 for and against. The original Judge, plus those who voted to uphold that decision on appeal means 23 Judges looked at this case, most found in favor of the State's decision to throw out this test.

12 Judges found for the State, 11 for the firefighters along the lines of the Supreme Court decision.

Granted this decision by the Supreme Court rules, however, more Judges looking at this same case came out against the firefighters, Sotomayer included.

The math says Sotomayer is in line with most Judges, granted by a small margin.

Don't believe the Republican hype!

Noted. I pulled a lib and posted without properly understanding the context of what you meant. Instead, I based it on a preconceived bias of what I thought you were writing. So that is how it feels. Admitting you're are wrong is totally against the code of libs.
