We got a letter today canceling the biometrics appt. Anyone else get one of these?

Does this mean that USCIS will not remove conditions?

This is very confusing but I would expect nothing less from USCIS.

Does it say something like "No need to appear at <location>"? I think people get those occasionally, count yourself lucky. OTOH, if it doesn't say "No need to appear..." er...that's strange.

Apparently a lot of people who had appointments on the 7th, 8th, or 9th, have received a cancellation notice. The speculation is that there's going to be some kind of system upgrade going on those days. Those who have called the (mis)information line are being told that their appointments are being rescheduled. Some of those who were canceled have already received the notice of their new date. More than likely you'll receive your new notice within the next couple of days.

But I would suggest going ahead and calling the 800 # yourself just to put your mind at ease.

Good luck and let us know the results

BTW--- at least some of those who received cancellation notices and then rescheduled appointment notices also had the "no need to appear" language on their cancellation notices, leading to additional confusion-- which of course is SNAFU for USCIS.

Maybe this is their way of cutting the budget.

I read posts elsewhere on VJ (sorry I will do penance for wandering off forum) and they all stated that the appts got rescheduled for a couple of weeks down the road. Apparently this began happening with appts at the end of June and went all the way to 9th of July. Some folks just walked in and were taken care of. I told the wife that if we dont get a reschedule date before the 7th then we will take the original letter to the office and pretend we didnt get the reschedule notice. If they dont let us in no biggie the office is a couple of miles from home, if they do than it is done.

If they were planning an upgrade wouldnt they know that before they scheduled all the appts?

Wait I know the answer "Its USCIS" the office that does things completely contrary to logic.

BTW thanks for the answers it reassures me that people dont skip over my posts as soon as they see the cows

Thats awesome, when Lena was in Irkutsk I asked her to go the village we said in on the west coast of Baikal and get me updated pictures of the cows but she called me silly and said no.

Next time she wants new clothes Im going to use the same answer and then duck.

Russia forum chleni have been hip to this for a long time, but if we can get the rest of VJ saying, "It's USCIS." (with that smug look!) then we'll have this whole immigration problem solved in a jiffy!

Like the milk from those cows, we need at least three posts a day.
