Thank you for this amazing forum and people here, I have been lurking around taking in oh-so much information without posting

So, here's my first post, about questions I have regarding my medical appointment scheduled in a couple of days. I received my interview date from the Frankfurt embassy and was also said that I could go ahead and finish my medical in Munich close to where I live...

Reg the medical appointment, I have the following questions:

1) I have been searching the entire forum for what the process is in the medical, I read a little bit of 693 form. Can anyone clearly state, what all documents I need to ensure my doctor fills, and what copies I get to take back for my interview and later on for AOS.

2) I have been told I need 3 photographs, and I confirmed from the doctor's office - - she said, German passport photo size is ok. Can anyone confirm, where these photos eventually land up in the documentation folder? (I need to get American sized new ones in that case, anyone from and around Munich - suggestions where I can get that done?)

Hopefully someone gets to this post soon, many thanks in advance :)

Ciao....

Every consulate deals with the medical exam according to its own procedures, so start here:

http://germany.usembassy.gov/medicalexamination2.html

It is the US consulate in Munich's medical exam information page. If the info there doesn't help, I suggest going to the regional forum.

Assuming you're using:

Dr. Karl-Friedrich Holtz

Hess Strasse 72

80798 München

Tel: 089 – 52314102 // Fax: 089 – 52314103

The doctor's office knows which forms to use.

You can (if you haven't already) find some useful information here:

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...p;cty=Frankfurt

Karin got 51mm X 51mm passport photos - asked for this size when having them taken. I believe many folks just brought the 'German/EU' size passport photos and were successful.

Thank you guys, I think i will just go ahead with the Eu size photographs, as the doc says ok.

I asked about the forms, because, I have read this forum where docs 'forgot' to give/ petitioner 'forgot' to take a copy, which became later a big thing during AOS...Is it just the copy of 693? Will the doctor give it right then or mail it later? I want to be sure to get whatever it is, when I am walking out of the doctor's office.

Secondly, will the result of the medical be told right away, like ok, you look clean .. or will it just be sent to the embassy and I get to know on my interview date, that would totally suck! And I presume I be given all the missing shots right away...

Sorry, if these are seem silly to the pros, but your answer will help. :)

No it's not the I-693, but what you mean is a copy of the vaccination sheet the doctor fills out (it's DS-3025). Just ask if they can give you a copy, it shouldn't be a problem. It's better to have it for AOS, because you will have to go to a USCIS-approved civil surgeon in the US and let them fill out parts of the I-693 for you (you don't have to take the full medical again, if your German medical is less than one year old when you apply for AOS), so they will transcribe the vaccinations for you.

Well they can't tell you the results of the bloodtests right away, but unless the doctor says anything to you, you should be fine. And if there are some concerns about your health that could be reasons for a visa denial, they would tell you first.

Did you look up the vaccination requirements for your gender and age? If possible, you should get any missing shots done by your family doctor since it's free (prevention) or inexpensive, if you decide to do it on the medical date, at that doctor, you might end up paying more and it's gonna be cash.

Oh, many thanks Chibby for that! I would have been sitting there, arguing to get a I-693 from the german doc :star: you saved me!! LOL!! that clears my question.

yes I did, I have had Td shots as a child, and also a booster in 2005. I am not sure if I need (another) Tdap as they say in the online chart?? :o As my medical is day after, I would just get the Tdap if the doc says so on that day.

Thanks again for the help you all!! It's a blessing to have this forum on sucha seemingly blind journey :)

You might as well just print or write down the vaccination requirements, take your Impfpass and let your family doctor take a look, if you're not sure. That's what I did, and he figured out I had to get a TD booster.

But of course you could always go to the medical first, and get any missing shots the days after at your family doctor and fax the medical doctor the proof.

I am finally done with my medicals. It wasn't anything unusual. Just blood, urine, bp, ear, eye etc. I have all vaccinations, however Varicella is a little old (I was 2 year old when I got that!) .. so they will be checking if I have the anti bodies, in case not I need to get that shot!

The doctor and nurse filled my form, and I was only asked to sign, I presume it was DS-3025. Not sure, guess its a standard procedure.

However when I asked for the copy, the nurse told me that, she will mail a photocopy of only the vaccination supplement once the V results come in, and that I don't need anything else. Is that right? Any one please. :) So, is that all I need from the medical doc, one sheet of vaccination detail?

Just waiting for the test results which they said will be back in a week's time.

Yes you got everything right, now you're only waiting for the copy of the DS-3025. But the only thing I had to sign at my medical was the permission to do a HIV test.

Glad that it's over with huh? Good luck on your further journey and for your interview ;)
