*crickets*

The rest of us still have a few months to go.

:(

Argh.

Sigh.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

It's funny. I am SO not sweating this process. At all. In fact, I couldn't care less and completely forget all about it until I see this thread. LOL

WE have too ( not sweating ) execpt the fact that his DL expires in December, that is the biggest concern. Hubby is a truck driver and here in Jersey it is a pain to get a DL without the card.

Congrats though to those who have been approved and wish us VSC'ers luck

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Same here. My driver's license expires in December and jersey won't give you a DL without a valid green card. So, basically, me and NA's husband are LE SCREWED.

I really don't care to be honest, either. I don't feel pressure like I did when we did AOS. I just don't like the non-updates. USCIS should send you friendly, personal updates like..

"Dear Amanda,

How are you doing? How are your dogs? Well, still no word yet about your card but hang it there!

Love,

USCIS"

Missouri is REALLY bad about issuing DL's. I had to have my 2 year GC in hand before I could get my DL the first time. This time I went to the DMV to get it with my extension letter, and they said no, that I had to get a "sticker", they wouldn't accept the 1 year extension letter. JG, a poster from here on VJ, also from St. Louis got his with the extension letter, so I was really peed off. So, I made an info pass appointment and went downtown that same day and told them what the DMV had told me. The guy rolled his eyes and said, there IS NO STICKER. He said the letter is sufficient, however because they were being goofs, he gave me an I-551 stamp in my passport which is the same as a GC, and dated it from that date and gave it a one year expiry date. I was so ticked off at that licensing office, that I just went to another one the following day. I gave her my passport etc. and I got my license. AFTER I got my license from her, I asked her if I had of used the extension letter, which I had with me, whether I would have been able to get my license with that, and she said, yes, of course. UGH. It's only good for one year my license now, because I didn't get my 10 year GC until a week after I got my license. Oh well.

The moral of this story is...if you don't get what you want from one office, maybe go to another, or, if you live near a USCIS office, go get a stamp. Never hurts to try.

See, that kind of thing makes life so miserable at times. The people who work at the DMV's around here..well..let's just say they aren't the most helpful people in the world...and they are more interesting int alking with each other, then doing their job.

NJ has this 6 points of Id verification thing...and it's just messy. They got tight on DL laws because of so many illegal immigrants living in the state and getting driver's licenses.

:rofl::rofl::rofl: Good luck with that!

I don't get all the trouble people are getting with their DL. Here I did need my EAD to get it, but they gave me (in august 2007) a DL valid until 2011.....for $6....

BTW I'm just happy I just got this e-mail

"On September 10, 2009, we ordered production of your new card." woot :D

You're lucky! Georgia only issues DL for the same length of time on the immigration document - or 3 years, whichever is less.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Same in Virginia! But, the length of license is based on your age. John will turn 35 this year, so he'll have to renew his license and it will be good for 5 more years.

Since my license is only good until next June, (one year from the NOA) I'll have to go back and renew again....I'll be 28. So 2 years after that I'll have to go and renew AGAIN for turning 30, and then It will be good for 5 years.

So in 6 years, I will have or am going to have to renew my licence 5 times
