Will seated customers would get cheaper tickets, too? At least those in the aisle seats. Any turbulance will likely toss one of them peasants on yer lap.

Not to mention them leaning over you with BO, blocking the food/drink cart you paid for, trying to snag your food/drink when your not watching, you will never know if there is a line for the bathroom.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

And blocking the aisle in the event of an emergency. Sheer lunacy. As for the 'consumer choice' advocate...no comment :)

The consumer will decide if it is a good idea. The way it should be, not big brother. If it is bad they will lose their costumors forcing them to do away with the idea.

Quit underestimating the people

While we're at it, we should also make the installation of seat belts, air bags, windshield wipers - hell, maybe even break lights, turn signals and breaks - into vehicles optional again. Let the consumer decide if they want to trade safety for a lower price on a vehicle. Make everything the car doesn't need to actually run optional. We should be able to get a $3K base model car to the market pretty soon that people can kill themselves and others with in no time at all.

Uh...one, I'm pretty sure this would be dangerous as if the flight had turbulence, and people would need to fasten their safety belt, they wouldn't even have a seat. How can that possibly be safe?

And if you can stand for 3 or 4 hours straight, good for you. I recently had a choral event where my choir had to stand for 2 hours and my legs were super sore afterwards.

every spring festival 30% of the chinese population stands on trains for up to 3 days to get home. tickets are sold at full price till all seats and aisleways are full and not one more chinese can be jammed aboard. just the way it is.

A Chinese budget airline has applied for permission to sell cut price standing room only tickets.

Passengers would pay a reduced price to stand in the aisles during flights, reports IC Media.

Spring Airlines president Wang Zhenghua said tickets would go on sale as soon as the government agreed the proposals.

He said he was confident of government backing - as the idea had been suggested by China's vice premier Zhang Dejiang.

"He suggested that, for a lower price, passengers should be able to get on a plane like catching a bus, with no seat, no luggage consignment, no food, no water, but very convenient," said Wang.

He added that the company had consulted with Airbus, the company which built most of its aeroplanes, and had been told the proposals were safe.

"So once the government approves it formally, we'll try it," said Wang.

Good concept  It gives me as a consumer the choice (personel responsibility) to fly at a discounted rate if I feel it is in my best interest. I don't need bureaucrats telling me when and how to travel.

Bravo answer unlike all the racist comments from the idiots here.

These racist American nationalists couldn't understand it that the USA preamble is WE THE PEOPLE (as long as you are a white male).

There is actually another airline wanting to do the same thing (standing).. Ryan Air.. an Irish airline... they already charge to use the toilet on Ryan flights....
