There was a similar story in the UK news the other week about the teenager who killed a toddler he was babysitting. They're already saying that the guy's issues may have had a lot to do with a dysfunctional and abusive home life.

Seeking explanations is not done to 'make excuses' but rather to try to find ways of preventing this happening to other people. I am not sure that that is possible, but at least it should give the at risk kids a better chance if we know more about what makes them at risk. Mind you, I am not really that hopeful that it can be prevented, sadly.

####### is solitare confinement? They give the man a deck of cards and tell him to play Solitaire til he dies?

they give him an old computer with that game on it, and it gets the blue screen of death just before they win a game.

I agree and would like to add that just because he was beat or whatever as a child it shouldn't in anyway be considered into his sentencing.

Just send him to jail and say he's in for child rape, at least in Brasil even murderers, etc have no respect for those, and they beg to be put in isolated cells, 'cus they don't usually make out alive.

same here in the states

WORCESTER, Mass. - A 7-year-old boy who authorities say was severely beaten by his dad on Father's Day has died in Massachusetts. UMass Memorial Medical Center nursing supervisor Elaine Grady said Sunday that Nathaniel Turner was removed from a ventilator early Saturday morning.

Nathaniel was declared brain dead Tuesday after his father allegedly slammed the boy's head against a wall in his Worcester home so hard that it left a dent.

Leslie Schuler and his live-in girlfriend are charged with assault, but authorities have said they are now conducting a murder investigation. Their lawyers didn't immediately return phone calls seeking comment Sunday.

Results of an autopsy performed Saturday are expected in a few weeks.

Nathaniel had been living with his father since Memorial Day.

####### ...... It happened in SAUDI ARABIA but after court decided death sentence for them bcz they killed thier own 7 year old girl by beating so Saudi police BEHEADED THAT WOMEN AND MAN .

which is as disgusting and barbaric as the death of the child.

 So whats the solution?? Solitare confinement? Which I consider torture.

There is no solution. A child is dead. Whatever you do will not bring him back. If folks agree with public beheadings of abusers, perhaps they should consider relocating to Saudi Arabia.

Might be barbaric, but Capital Punishment will prevent some abusers if they know the consequences. Also if that was your child and someone else did that, you want them to get a slap on the wrist and go to jail for life, parole eligible after 10 years?

I don't know the whole beheading thing just seems too messy for my taste.

I would consider public hangings.

Talk about a Reality-show!

Corporal punishment needs to be brought back. No other way to solve these crimes.

Look how well Australians turned out. ;)

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
